As of now, GPT-5 is accessible both through ChatGPT and its API, following its launch on Thursday, August 7, 2025. This version is designed to be more dependable and stable than its predecessors, and it offers increased customization. Notably, one of the significant upcoming features is its ability to automatically connect to your Gmail or Google Calendar accounts to better fulfill your requests.
A Tool to Efficiently Organize Your Day
Soon, you will be able to link your Gmail and Google Calendar accounts to ChatGPT, allowing it to autonomously utilize the information within to assist you daily. During the live presentation, OpenAI showcased a preview of this new capability.
In the demonstration, ChatGPT was asked to outline the user’s day. The tool then examined her Gmail inbox and Google Calendar, providing a clear agenda, organizing her schedule, and highlighting important unanswered emails. Remarkably, GPT-5 also managed to find a time slot for her to go running.

While connectors for Gmail, Calendar, and Contacts were available in the previous version, they had to be activated manually. With GPT-5’s new intelligent routing, the AI will know when to automatically activate these features to access specific data and respond to the user’s query.
Privacy Concerns
The integration of Gmail and Google Calendar is expected to become available in the coming days for users of the Pro version. You can already go to the ChatGPT’s Settings page, then to the Connectors tab, to manually activate certain integrations with different workspaces’ applications.
However, it remains uncertain whether this feature will be immediately available in France upon its launch. The stricter European regulations on privacy and data protection could delay its rollout, similar to recent issues faced by some tools from Meta and Apple.
Although the tool is not yet capable of responding to emails on your behalf, allowing a chatbot to access your Gmail or Google Calendar—and thus all the personal data they contain—might be seen as a risk by many users.
