The buzz around Samsung’s upcoming One UI 8.5 overlay has not subsided with the release of its first beta. The latest leak again focuses on the camera feature, as the South Korean manufacturer finally makes it easier to quickly adjust a crucial setting.

Since the roll-out of the first One UI 8.5 beta on December 8, there has been a continuous stream of leaks. It seems that this iteration of Samsung’s overlay, based on Android 16, places a significant emphasis on photography in various ways.

For instance, it is expected to allow users to merge and edit their photos instantly using a new feature powered by Galaxy AI, and it is also set to introduce shareable presets in Pro mode. However, it appears that Samsung has not neglected the standard photo mode.

One UI 8.5: Samsung Now Allows Quick Adjustment to This Key Camera Setting

The South Korean manufacturer might make it easier to quickly adjust a crucial camera setting by incorporating a white balance slider directly into the app. At least that’s what prominent leaker UniverseIce claims on the Chinese social network Weibo.

The white balance helps ensure that the colors in a photo appear natural, regardless of lighting conditions. Smartphones typically have an automatic white balance, but it isn’t always perfect, especially with multiple light sources or if the user wants to capture a specific ambiance. Here, a slider is handy, as it allows the user to take control and tweak the effect.

According to UniverseIce, the innovation in One UI 8.5 is that this feature is now directly accessible from the default photo mode—which avoids the need to switch to the potentially less accessible Pro mode. Thus, the essential white balance setting can be adjusted more easily and quickly.

The leaker notes that, currently, this feature is not yet active. He speculates whether it might be exclusive to the Galaxy S26. Regardless, Samsung is catching up with Google, which already allows easy adjustment of the white balance, as highlighted by our colleagues at Android Authority. Could the next step be the introduction of a shadows slider inspired by the Pixel?
