Galaxy Z Flip 8 Camera Revealed: What Surprises Does Samsung Have in Store?

Unlike the Galaxy Z Fold 8, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is not expected to receive any upgrades in its camera sensors.

While the release of the Galaxy S26 has been postponed to the end of February 2026, Samsung’s release schedule for its foldable smartphones remains unchanged, with an announcement anticipated in July. Initial leaks are beginning to give us a glimpse of what the South Korean manufacturer has in store.

According to information from GalaxyClub, a reliable source for years, Samsung does not plan to enhance the camera features of its upcoming clamshell foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Flip 8. Although software upgrades may improve its photo and video capturing capabilities, there are no significant hardware changes expected in this generation.

Galaxy Z Flip 8: No Camera Improvements, But Possibly Lighter?

The camera setup is likely to remain the same as the Galaxy Z Flip 7, featuring a main 50 MP sensor, a 12 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10 MP front camera for selfies. To keep the cost of this model down, Samsung is not equipping it with the top-tier photography components. This approach continues with the Z Flip 8, which will still lack a telephoto lens, thus omitting optical zoom. Neither the ultra-wide nor the selfie cameras will see any increase in resolution, which would have been a beneficial upgrade.

Given that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to refresh its camera sensors, including a new 50 MP ultra-wide sensor (up from 12 MP) and a 12 MP telephoto lens (up from 10 MP), one might have hoped for similar changes in the Z Flip 8. However, it appears that the Z Flip 8 will not enjoy the same enhancements as its foldable counterpart.

Unless the ongoing RAM crisis worsens and affects the company’s plans, Samsung is not expected to raise the price of its clamshell phone. It is also known that the manufacturer has worked on the phone’s design to make it lighter.
