Photography is a strong suit of the Pixel smartphones, particularly the Pro models which feature an extensive Pro mode. This mode is so comprehensive that users often miss out on some of its capabilities. Here, we introduce a largely unknown feature.
Despite our familiarity with our smartphones, they occasionally surprise us. Due to routine usage, we might focus heavily on certain features, neglecting the possibility of others. Sometimes, these features are hidden well enough that stumbling upon them feels like a breath of fresh air.
This was the case for YouBugged, a Reddit user who shared his discovery: as a proud owner of a Pixel 10 Pro – which now includes the missing feature that could potentially dominate in photography – he realized that he had completely overlooked a feature in his smartphone’s Pro mode, given its depth.

Pixel Pro: You Might Have Missed This Subtle Camera Feature
For those who have opted for a Pixel Pro due to its photographic capabilities and are keen to improve, there is a Pro mode that serves as an excellent starting point. Easily accessible from the Camera app by pressing the settings slider button at the bottom right, it allows users to adjust various parameters with precision, such as ISO, white balance, exposure, shadows, lens, resolution, shutter speed, and focus.
Notably, the Pixel Pro features a manual focus mode, which includes several functional options when activated. One of the better-known features is undoubtedly focus peaking, which provides visual markers to aid in focusing. However, there’s another, lesser-known feature: a secondary zoomed viewfinder, which also utilizes focus peaking markers to enhance focusing accuracy. To display this small window in the top right of the screen, simply press the small button that appears in manual focus mode. To recenter the display in this window, just tap anywhere on the main viewfinder.
As highlighted by our colleagues at Android Authority, here are the devices compatible with this mode (and thus with this largely unknown tip):

- Pixel 8 Pro,
- Pixel 9 Pro,
- Pixel 9 Pro XL,
- Pixel 9 Pro Fold,
- Pixel 10 Pro,
