With the release of LineageOS 23.0, over 100 smartphones have been upgraded to Android 16, and the developers have now expanded this already extensive list with additional models.
LineageOS is one of the most popular custom versions (or custom ROMs) of Android. Originating from the remnants of CyanogenMod, it remains one of the few such projects still active. Custom ROMs offer users the ability to customize the interface, access unique features, or enjoy the latest official updates on devices that are no longer officially supported.
Last October, we reported that the LineageOS 23.0 update was available. It introduced a variety of new features including Catapult, a launcher designed specifically for TVs, as well as support for Ultra HDR and RAW format in the Aperture photo app. Most notably, LineageOS 23.0 brought Android 16 to over 100 smartphones. The developers have now decided to extend the list of compatible devices even further.

New Android Smartphones Compatible with LineageOS 23.0
LineageOS 23.0 is based on Android 16. However, don’t expect to see the Material 3 Expressive design as Google has not yet released the source code for Android 16 QPR1. Another point to note is that Google now only provides a compressed kernel file for its Pixel devices, making them harder to modify; hence, new Pixel models may not be the first to receive the latest versions of LineageOS anymore.
Despite this, developers have not abandoned them: the Pixel 9 series has just been added to the (long) list of devices supported by LineageOS 23.0. However, they are not alone, as noted by our colleagues at Android Authority. Here are the new models now compatible with the latest version of the famous custom ROM:
- Google Pixel 6
- Google Pixel 6 Pro
- Google Pixel 6a
- Google Pixel 7
