Gemini: The Future of Non-Disruptive Smartphone Assistance!

Gemini, Google’s upcoming AI tool, is poised to enhance usability with a new interface that allows for seamless multitasking across apps.

Voice assistants have become essential features on smartphones, yet their development has plateaued in recent years. Google aims to disrupt this status quo with Gemini, its advanced artificial intelligence tool set to replace Google Assistant by the end of the year. Gemini is designed to be more powerful, capable of engaging in conversations, and features Gemini Live, a functionality developed to provide real-time, natural responses.

According to a code analysis of the Google app by Android Authority, Gemini Live is expected to soon feature a floating interface. This means it would no longer cover the entire screen but would appear over only part of it, allowing the underlying app to remain visible. This would enable users to interact with the AI while simultaneously keeping an eye on the app they were using, a far more convenient approach than the current full-screen display.

Unlike merely going back to a previous screen, this innovation would save time and help users maintain their workflow more seamlessly. For instance, users could ask Gemini a question while continuing to browse the web or chat with a friend.

Gemini Live Could Be Used Without Leaving the Active App on Your Phone

The interface being tested allows for the display of information cards related to other Google apps such as Maps, Keep, and Calendar. This enables tasks like searching for a location without having to close the active application, or checking a note while continuing a conversation. As previously reported, Gemini Live can interact directly with these apps to provide personalized responses, slowly changing how users interact with Android smartphones.

Currently, closing Gemini Live requires navigating back several steps to return to the previously used app, or even going back to the home screen. The new floating interface would simplify this process by making the chatbot resizable at will. Although this feature is still in the testing phase within the Google app, and might not be immediately available on phones, as AI continues to become more integral, it makes sense for Google to aim for a more straightforward and intuitive integration into Android.
