Apple has experimented with using the face of Finder in an animated form, but the company is also considering other designs. Designers at Cupertino are thinking about possibly using something akin to Memojis, the personalized avatars inspired by emojis that can mimic the facial features of their users.
This new feature is being designed specifically for Apple’s first home assistant device with a screen mounted on a motorized stand. This design would allow the screen to move and track users as they move around a room. The movements of the screen are intended to replicate human behaviors, as seen in a prototype Apple unveiled earlier this year, hence the concept of giving it a real face. This model is expected to launch in 2027, following Apple’s first (non-motorized) home assistant screen, which could see a release as early as the spring of 2026.
