Google is expanding the integration of its Gemini AI assistant across its suite of applications. Having already established a presence on smartphones and PCs, and making its way into Google TV and Home, Gemini is now making its debut in Android Auto, bringing several new features along with it.
Google’s Gemini AI assistant is steadily infiltrating more of the company’s applications such as Drive, Gmail, Docs, and the Play Store. After securing its place on smartphones and PCs, it has ventured into the smart home sector with the aim of replacing Google Assistant and is set to transform how we interact with Google TV as well.
Gemini is indeed everywhere, and Google is positioning it as an indispensable AI assistant, even extending into our vehicles. Last August, the Mountain View-based company announced that Gemini would be integrated into Android Auto by the end of the year. It appears they have kept their promise: Gemini, poised to take over from Google Assistant, is beginning to show up on the dashboards of some vehicles.

Gemini Finally Arrives on Android Auto with Handy New Features
The introduction of Gemini to Android Auto is set to be a significant enhancement to the driving experience. This AI assistant is designed to facilitate smoother, more conversational, and more natural interactions – almost “human-like.” With Gemini Live integrated, you can even ask follow-up questions or interrupt it.
Although Google has not made an official announcement yet, several users have reported seeing Gemini on Android Auto. According to TechRadar, it seems that integrating Gemini requires Android 15.6 or 15.7 and is currently only available in the beta version. Some users have also noted that certain features might be temporarily unavailable, such as contact nicknames not being supported.
Note that no specific actions are needed to access this new feature: patience is key. Once it becomes available on your device, simply launching Google Assistant on Android Auto will automatically display an introduction screen for Gemini instead.
This integration of Gemini into Android Auto is part of Google’s ongoing efforts to enhance the driving experience for its users. In this context, a major update to Gemini in Google Maps is expected soon, likely in conjunction with Android Auto: the AI will enable you to report road incidents, receive more accurate directions, and ask questions about displayed locations.
