Apple’s Home Automation Screen May Launch Sooner Than Expected
According to Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, Apple’s long-awaited home automation screen could hit the market by the end of this year. Originally, the launch was postponed to 2026 following delays in Siri’s functionality planned for spring. The device, alongside its new operating system named homeOS, which is heavily reliant on Apple Intelligence, was delayed. However, Apple has decided to scale back on some of its more ambitious features to enable a quicker launch, with these features possibly being introduced in a later version. If these reports hold true, an unveiling at the WWDC on June 9 might be on the cards.
Features and Design of the New Device
The new gadget is described as resembling a miniature iPad, featuring a nearly 6-inch square screen, making it about the size of an iPhone. It could be mounted on the wall or placed on a stand that includes a speaker, potentially the upcoming HomePod mini. Additionally, the device is expected to include a camera for video conferencing and user recognition. It will also be equipped with the A18 chip, which supports Apple Intelligence.
Apple is also reportedly developing a more advanced version of the screen that includes a motorized stand capable of tracking the user’s movement around the room. However, this enhanced model is not expected to be released until 2026 or 2027.
