Samsung to Manufacture Folding Screen for Apple’s iPhone
Samsung will be the manufacturer behind the folding screen of Apple’s new iPhone, although the South Korean tech giant will allow Apple to brand and market the screen under its own name, according to reliable sources from yeux1122. The display quality of this screen is anticipated to surpass the standards of Samsung’s own folding smartphones, especially in terms of color accuracy and brightness. Furthermore, the screen is expected to be significantly thinner—19% thinner compared to Samsung’s upcoming Z Fold 7—and lighter. This weight reduction is largely due to the integration of the touch layer directly into the screen itself. According to speculations, the Z Fold 7 will have a thickness of about 9.5 mm, including the camera components. Consequently, Apple’s folding iPhone should be slimmer in design.
High Standards for the Fold
Several rumors suggest that Apple has set very high standards regarding the visibility of the central fold of the screen, insisting on solutions that might considerably increase production costs to minimize its appearance. As all manufacturers aim to achieve a seamless fold, this partnership could potentially enable Samsung to also utilize and market this new screen technology under its own brand, provided there are no delays. Unless postponed, the unveiling of Apple’s first folding iPhone is scheduled for September 2026, as part of the iPhone 18 series.
