Adobe has announced new features for five of its creative software programs. Most of these enhancements are designed to speed up repetitive tasks in creative workflows, from photo sorting to video editing, using artificial intelligence.

Adobe continues its AI advancement. Just weeks after the debut of the Firefly AI Assistant—a unified creative agent introduced in late April—the company is rolling out a new series of updates across its Creative Cloud this week. Lightroom, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator each receive new features, many of which involve generative AI. The aim remains to decrease the time spent on the most repetitive tasks in the creative process.
Lightroom Converts Photos into Videos and Automates Sorting
In Lightroom, the most significant new feature is called From Photo to Video. It turns a still image into B-roll or Reels using movements generated by Firefly’s AI and Google Veo, based on automatic prompts or user-entered directions.

Photo sorting has also evolved. The feature Assisted Sorting, previously in early access, is now available to all. It utilizes several tools:
- People View, which isolates each face and analyzes eye sharpness and openness,
- Automatic stacking, which groups similar shots and recommends the best one,
- Customizable filters and precision sliders for refining selections.
Additionally, Lightroom incorporates an AI-enhanced Sharpness function, based on Topaz Labs’ Noise-Aware Sharpen model, which recovers details without needing to export. It also supports RAW formats from the new Sony a7R VI camera in Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, and Adobe Camera Raw.
Premiere Enhances Timeline and Audio Editing
Over at Premiere Pro, the Object Masking tool has become faster and more precise. The masks produced are more natural and can be regenerated if media is disconnected and reconnected. The software also adds a suite of tools aimed at speeding up editing:
- New effects (Layer Blur, Gradient, Noise Effect) and 3D transitions (Spinback and Slide) with curve control,
- Word-by-word subtitles, allowing for corrections to a single word without altering the main subtitle block,
- Cut All Audio and Marker Search commands, for silencing the entire application or finding a marker by color or name,
- The ability to purchase Adobe Stock content directly from the dedicated panel without leaving the software.
Premiere finally introduces two panels: Sequence Index, which centralizes management of long formats, and A/V Display Mode, which simultaneously displays video and audio waveforms in the source monitor.
After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator Leverage Generative AI
After Effects redefines its rotoscoping with Image Cache, replacing the Roto Brush tool with four AI-optimized tools: Object Selection, Quick Selection, Selection Brush, and Enhance Edge. The software also enhances its 3D capabilities (dispersion maps for relief, depth of field, script API) and now allows importing SVG files as editable shape layers, or pasting vector elements directly from Illustrator.
Photoshop introduces two new features. The Reflection Removal tool automatically detects and isolates reflections from a glass surface into a separate layer, with opacity adjustment. The Remove tool now runs a generative AI model directly on the device, making it usable offline.
Lastly, Illustrator introduces From Concept to Vector, which converts a sketch or low-quality visual into an editable vector path, and can generate multiple style variations from a single source.
