Following the introduction of its Firefly AI Assistant in late April—a creative agent designed to manage the Creative Cloud via a conversational interface—Adobe is taking a significant step forward on Thursday, June 18, 2026. The agent is no longer limited to operating through Firefly but is now integrated directly into each application as initially announced in April. Concurrently, Firefly has been upgraded with new creative abilities and a revamped studio experience.
The concept remains unchanged: the creator describes the desired outcome, the assistant handles the intermediate steps, and the human retains control over each decision. This control requirement has been highly praised by creators who have incorporated AI into their production process.
AI Assistant Integrated Across Five Creative Cloud Applications
Adobe is rolling out its AI Assistant in a public beta for Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Frame.io, with After Effects receiving it in a private beta. Specifically, the assistant takes on repetitive production tasks while the professional focuses on creative choices. The role of the assistant varies depending on the software:

- Premiere: sorting footage into bins, batch renaming clips, detecting interview questions, or assembling a preliminary edit.
- Photoshop: changing backgrounds, resizing visuals for different platforms, or reorganizing layers throughout the composition.
- Illustrator: producing versioned files from a spreadsheet, reorganizing layers, or conducting pre-press checks to spot color mode errors and missing fonts.
- InDesign: applying design templates from a PDF or template, updating text, style, and pre-print checks.
- Frame.io: organizing media from shoots, managing feedback across versions, and generating B-roll.
Enhanced Capabilities and a Redesigned Creative Studio in Firefly
Within Firefly, Adobe is adding features already available and accessible through the Firefly web app, tailored for creators who are building their brands on social media:
- Brand kit: creation of a logo, identity, and color palette based on a simple style description.
- Product video: transforming product photos into short videos with lighting, movement, sound, and brand styling.
- Quick Cut: automatic assembly of footage into an initial edit synchronized with dialogue or narration.
- Storyboards: creating a sequence of shots and then generating a video from these storyboards.
The assistant also improves its understanding of user intentions over time: it can locate an asset described in natural language and learn each user’s workflow preferences. Creators can now invite collaborators to review and provide feedback on a project before it goes live.
Adobe is also previewing a new version of its creative studio Firefly, available as a private beta on a waiting list, designed to maintain the context of a project from session to session. It is based on two components: Elements, which allows saving characters, locations, and objects for reuse across generations, and Projects, which combines assets, generations, and creative history within Firefly and the Creative Cloud.
Adobe plans to gradually extend its creative agent to more applications within the Creative Cloud, covering additional workflows in photography, video, and motion design.
Platforms Where Adobe is Advancing Its Creative Tools
Beyond its own applications, Adobe is making its creative tools available through third-party platforms:
- Available: ChatGPT, Claude, and Microsoft 365 Copilot.
- Announced: Google Gemini and Slack, via the “Adobe for creativity” connector.
