Pause those updates!

With Apple’s recent “Awe Dropping” event now behind us, showcasing the latest iPhone 17 series, the ultra-sleek iPhone Air, enhanced AirPods Pro 3, and the Apple Watch 11, it’s time to anticipate the upcoming products from the tech behemoth in Cupertino. The lineup is expected to begin with the M5 iPad Pro.

Speculation is high about Apple unveiling its new iPad Pro equipped with an M5 chip this autumn, hinting at a significant October event. While this event may also introduce the M5 MacBook Pro, other products could potentially overshadow these announcements.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple plans to launch 10 new products between late 2025 and early 2026, starting as early as October with the M5 iPad Pro. However, the next MacBook Pro lineup might not hit the market until early 2026.

First Up: iPad Pro M5

If you’re considering a new iPad, you might want to delay your purchase. Gurman reports that Apple is set to unveil its long-awaited M5 iPad Pro next month, marking a new phase for its M-series chips.

This development has been rumored since last year, supported by reports that Apple began mass production of the M5 chip in February, with display production following in June. Since the iPad Pro M4 was the first to feature the M4 chip, it’s likely that the M5 version will continue this trend.

The specifics of the launch event in October remain uncertain, mirroring the M3 MacBook Pro launch in 2023 which also had an element of surprise. Apple may have more surprises in store, possibly warranting a special event this autumn.

The forthcoming iPad Pro is rumored to feature the M5 chip, possibly built on an advanced 2-nanometer process for enhanced performance and efficiency. It’s also expected to include 16GB of RAM, support for Wi-Fi 7, and a new dual front-facing camera system, assuming the rumors hold true.

While the overall design might not see major changes, the performance enhancements are likely to be the standout feature of the M5 iPad Pro. If it does launch in October, the full details of Apple’s latest premium tablet will soon be revealed.

M5 MacBooks Expected Later

As reported by Gurman and Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (via MacRumors), the M5 MacBook Pro models might not see a 2025 release after all, instead eyeing an early 2026 debut. This suggests a potential skip of a fall launch.

Despite earlier leaks suggesting a possible 2025 launch, the timeline for the M4 MacBook Pro models, which debuted five months after the M4 iPad Pro’s announcement, might indicate a similar schedule for this year.

Nevertheless, Gurman suggests that the M5 MacBook Pro models are expected to arrive within the next few months, indicating a potential early 2026 event. As for the new M5 MacBook Air models, these are anticipated to follow the Pro models, likely around March, similar to the timing of the M4 MacBook Air release.

No significant design changes are expected for these laptops, and the possibility of new Mac mini or iMac models releasing concurrently remains uncertain. However, it appears we may not have to wait much longer to see the M5 MacBooks officially unveiled.

What’s Next from Apple?

Beyond the new iPad Pro and MacBook models with M5 chips, Gurman anticipates several other Apple products launching between late 2025 and early 2026. The lineup looks promising.

  • Vision Pro 2: Rumored to be equipped with an M5 chip, the next version of Apple’s headset is expected to feature enhanced Apple Intelligence and a new Space Black color.
  • AirTag 2: The upcoming iteration of the AirTag is anticipated to include a more advanced ultra-wideband chip for improved long-range precision finding.
  • Apple TV 4K (4th Gen): Expected upgrades include an A17 Pro chip (or possibly A19 to align with the current iPhone 17), along with enhanced Apple Intelligence, Wi-Fi 7 support, and potentially a FaceTime camera.
  • HomePod mini 2: Rumors suggest an update to the HomePod mini, featuring enhanced Apple Intelligence and an S9 chip, maintaining a design similar to the HomePod 2.
  • Home Hub: The new smart home hub, possibly the HomePod 3, is rumored for release next March.
  • New Studio Display: Anticipated to feature mini-LED backlighting, this new display might arrive in late 2025 or early 2026, potentially alongside new Mac announcements.
  • iPhone 17e: Following the iPhone 16e, the next iteration, the iPhone 17e, is expected to debut around March with the same A19 chip as the iPhone 17.

Some of these devices might be announced alongside the expected M5 iPad Pro in October, potentially warranting a special event. However, for now, it remains a waiting game to see which product will debut first. At the very least, we have a preview of what’s on the horizon, and it’s coming soon.
