macOS 26.7 RC Unveiled: Discover the Exciting New Features Coming Soon!

Following the release of macOS 26.6 on July 27, Apple is now gearing up for macOS 26.7, which entered its beta phase just last night, hot on the heels of the macOS 26.6.2 update that focused on security enhancements. Interestingly, Apple has directly issued a Release Candidate (RC) version to developers, where MacRumors has unearthed hints of several yet-to-be-announced products. This update is scheduled for release in September.

Among these upcoming releases, several products are related to home automation. Notably, there are details about setting up Siri on an anticipated home automation hub, expected this fall, available in two versions: J490 featuring a screen on a base with an integrated speaker, and J491 which includes a magnetic mounting system. Additionally, the code name B525 has been identified as the new HomePod mini, and the code name J229 might be referring to a dedicated FaceTime camera. Two mysterious devices listed as HomeAccessory17,2 and HomeAccessory17,3 also appeared. The code also mentions four colors for a home automation device, potentially either the hub or the HomePod mini: pink, silver, space gray, and starlight.

macOS 26.7 introduces innovations in audio technology with AirPods that incorporate cameras, showcased in a video released this morning. These are referenced by the code name B790, which had been spotted previously. The firmware includes specific error messages such as “Failure to start the image stream for the left earbud”. MacRumors also found references to future versions of AirPods Pro 4 and AirPods 5, labeled as AirPodsPro1,4 and AirPod3,5 respectively, along with two Beats products identified as B518 and B522, one of which might be a redesigned Beats Studio Pro headset.

Five new iPhone models are also part of this update, including iPhone Air 2 (V62), iPhone 18 Pro (V63), iPhone 18 Pro Max (V64), iPhone 18 (V67), and iPhone Ultra (V68). These identifiers were previously noticed in the iOS 27 beta alongside the iPhone 18e (V69). Only the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and a foldable iPhone are expected to be unveiled in September, with the other three models projected for an early 2027 release.

The RC also includes references to a 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 chip (J804), as well as models featuring OLED displays with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips (K114c, K114s, K116c, and K116s), and new iMac models (J833 and J834) equipped with the M6 chip. These products are anticipated to be announced this fall.

Finally, evidence of an OLED iPad mini (J510 and J511), anticipated for an October release, has been found. There’s also mention of an abandoned project for a new Apple Vision Pro model (N109), and a new remote control (ATVRemote1,5) intended for the Apple TV, which is expected to receive an update this autumn.
