Samsung’s Galaxy S26 to Feature Revolutionary Camera Tech: Expect Major Upgrades!

Galaxy S26

Typically, Samsung opts for minimal changes to the camera sensors in its smartphones from one generation to the next, but the Galaxy S26 series will be an exception.

In a significant shake-up planned for next year, Samsung will make major adjustments to its flagship smartphone lineup. The Galaxy S26+ will be replaced by the Galaxy S26 Edge, the Galaxy S26 will be renamed to Galaxy S26 Pro, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra will remain as is. Alongside these changes, the company will also deeply revise the camera hardware across its devices.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature two sensors with significantly larger apertures to enhance light capture and, consequently, improve photo quality, according to Ice Universe. The main 200 MP sensor is expected to upgrade from an f/1.7 to an f/1.4 aperture, allowing 47% more light intake. The 50 MP telephoto lens with a x5 optical zoom will move from an f/3.4 to an f/2.9 aperture, a 38% increase in light capture. The x3 optical zoom telephoto lens will maintain the same aperture but will see a resolution increase from 10 MP to 12 MP, a boost of 20%. The ultra-wide-angle lens is expected to remain unchanged.

Enhanced Ultra-Wide-Angle Sensor for Galaxy S26 Pro and S26 Edge

The Galaxy S26 Pro and S26 Edge will also see improvements. Citing Roland Quandt, both models are set to include a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, possibly the same one found in the Galaxy S25 Ultra (and thus the S26 Ultra). This represents a significant upgrade, as Samsung has maintained a 12 MP resolution for this lens for many years. There’s also hope for the addition of autofocus, a feature previously missing from the ultra-wide-angle lenses in earlier models.

The Galaxy S26 Edge will feature a 200 MP main sensor, although it is unclear if it will possess the exact same capabilities as the one in the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Unlike the Ultra version, it will lack a telephoto lens, further differentiating it in terms of photographic capabilities.

However, this revolutionary upgrade in camera hardware will not extend to the front-facing camera used for selfies and video calls, which will continue to sport a 12 MP sensor.
