SE 3, Series 11, Ultra 3 : de nouvelles Apple Watch en septembre
As September draws near, it signals the unveiling of the iPhone 17 lineup and new Apple Watch models. This year, Apple is expected to update its entire range of smartwatches, introducing the third generation of the Apple Watch SE, the Apple Watch Series 11, and the Apple Watch Ultra 3. While there hasn’t been a flood of rumors about these upcoming releases, there are still some juicy tidbits available. Here’s what we know so far!

In the entry-level segment, Apple is set to launch a new Apple Watch SE this year. For this third iteration, the tech giant is likely to equip the device with an updated, more powerful, and more sustainable chip than the current S8 chip. There was talk of a new plastic design at one point, but this idea was reportedly scrapped along the way. It is also expected that new screens will be introduced, although it remains unclear whether Apple will reduce the bezel to increase the display area. The introduction of an LTPO3 panel that supports an always-on display feature is a possibility, but remains speculative at this moment.

The Apple Watch Series 11 is not anticipated to undergo any design changes, just one year after the slimmer look of the Apple Watch Series 10 was introduced. Here too, a new SiP (System in Package) is expected to replace the current S10 chip, likely featuring more RAM but without making a significant leap needed to support Apple Intelligence locally (the current S10 chip comes with only 1 GB of RAM, whereas Apple Intelligence on the iPhone requires 8 GB). AI features may not be ruled out, but they would operate remotely. On the health front, a long-rumored blood pressure monitor by Apple has been facing reliability issues, and its inclusion this year remains doubtful. Regarding connectivity, cellular models currently limited to 4G could shift to 5G RedCap.

Lastly, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is expected to feature a newer and more powerful chip, along with an increase in RAM capacity, possibly more so than the Series 11 to support Apple Intelligence locally. It is also likely to support 5G RedCap, and there could be added satellite connectivity that, similar to the iPhone, would allow users to send messages and contact emergency services in areas without cellular coverage. Like the Apple Watch Series 11, the integration of a blood pressure monitor remains uncertain at this stage.

Update August 6, 2025, at 8:22 AM:

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is expected to feature a slightly larger display, at 422 x 514 pixels compared to the current 410 x 502 pixels. With the design not changing, the reduction in the black bezel around the display is likely.

It’s important to note that these rumored developments come with their share of uncertainties and may not cover all the changes. While we might already know quite a bit about the upcoming iPhone 17 range, the same can’t be said for the next generation of Apple Watches. If you’re considering a new smartwatch, it might be wise to wait until September!
