The Eero Pro 7 Wi-Fi router is a mid-range tri-band model that operates on a mesh network and is positioned at the heart of the product line. Unlike the entry-level Eero 7, it supports the significant 6 GHz band, enabling very high wireless throughput.
With a simple connectivity setup featuring two 5 GbE ports, it isn’t as well-equipped as the pricier Eero Max 7, which includes 10 GbE ports. However, it shares the same features and is paired with a well-thought-out and handy mobile app.
This new model is priced at 350 euros for a single unit. A set of three devices, which then operate in a mesh network, is available for 800 euros at the time of our review. This pricing is relatively reasonable compared to competitors like those from Netgear.

Eero Pro 7A Wi-Fi Router Among Many
The world of Wi-Fi mesh kits lacks originality, and the Eero Pro 7 is no exception, closely resembling competitors we have previously reviewed. Made entirely of white plastic, the router stands upright and is shaped like a slim tower less than 20 cm tall.
The glossy, curved front features the brand logo and a discreet status LED at the top. A large vent on the top helps keep the internal components at a reasonable temperature during use. These classic design choices allow the device to easily blend into any room without significantly impacting its aesthetics.
All connections are located at the back. The device offers limited connectivity options, featuring only two RJ45 5 GbE ports alongside a USB C power supply. Once connected to an operator’s box, it can only connect one additional device, ideally a switch. More problematically, in the case of using multiple boxes, the wired connection of these (backhaul) will then monopolize the remaining connectivity on the main router.
Beyond the device itself, Eero includes a 27 W USB C power supply in the box. More uniquely, the included RJ45 cable is braided, similar to what Apple offers with its most recent products. It’s a nice touch, though functionally unnecessary.
Eero Pro 7A Handy App and a Rich Subscription
Setting up the router is straightforward and is done via a dedicated mobile app available for iOS and Android. We are guided step-by-step through the necessary setup stages while analyzing the existing hardware (usually an operator’s box). In short, it takes no more than five minutes for the Eero Pro 7 to be up and running.
The app offers a very clear interface and is quite pleasant to use. The home page provides a summary of the network status, showing the internet connection, Eero boxes, and the devices connected to the network. It’s also here that you can add profiles aimed at adjusting restrictions and security based on the user type.
Without a subscription to Eero Plus, priced at 120 euros per year, these profiles only allow for scheduling. It is possible to restrict connections to specific time slots and days of the week. Each connected device can then be linked to a specific profile.
As with most Wi-Fi routers, many of the advanced (and interesting) features are locked behind an annual subscription. Eero is no exception, offering the Eero+ subscription at a relatively high cost of 120 euros per year. However, it is currently one of the most comprehensive subscriptions on the market.
The subscription first grants access to advanced filtering for profiles. This includes ad blocking, content filtering (adult sites, gambling sites, etc.), messaging apps, or even manual blocking of selected sites. All of this is logged and analyzed to detect potential threats.
Eero Plus also unlocks the “Backup Connection” feature. This is a particularly interesting idea that allows the Eero router to connect to any other Wi-Fi access point to use its internet connection in case of a main connection outage. This could include adding a personal hotspot or even a neighbor’s Wi-Fi to maintain continuous internet access.
Moreover, Eero distinguishes itself with its premium subscription by providing access to the family plan of the 1Password password manager, the Guardian VPN, and the Malwarebytes antivirus. This is a particularly comprehensive security package considering the annual cost of the subscription.
At the very bottom of the “Settings” menu, advanced users will be pleased to find numerous advanced settings that allow the Eero Pro 7 to advantageously replace an operator’s router or box. In addition to advanced WAN settings (DHCP, static IP, or PPPoE), the router allows for the adjustment of DHCP and NAT settings, as well as the selection of the DNS server. It is also possible, via the Eero+ subscription, to set up a dynamic DNS.
Surprisingly, the wireless aspect has the fewest settings. Creating a guest network is possible, as well as enabling MLO and WPA3. And… that’s it! It is not possible to separate the bands or to finely tune the operation of the Wi-Fi network. However, the router can act as a Thread hub to connect your smart home devices.
Eero Pro 7Good Coverage and Excellent Performance
We subjected the Eero Pro 7 router to our usual testing protocol to measure its performance. This protocol first involves measuring coverage in a modern apartment of about 80 sqm and then conducting throughput tests using the OpenSpeedTest tool at different locations.
The tests were conducted using a Dell laptop equipped with an Intel BE200 chip compatible with Wi-Fi 7. MLO was activated on the router, and therefore, all frequency bands were used during the measurements. As a reminder, the Eero Pro 7 is a tri-band device (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz).
The coverage proved excellent throughout the apartment. As our heatmap shows, attenuation values remain very good, regardless of the room, and only the load-bearing exterior walls really affect it without completely cutting off the signal.
This excellent coverage translates into excellent throughput in all rooms. The test under optimal conditions shows that the router can guarantee a stable throughput exceeding 3.7 Gbps downstream and stabilizing around 2.5 Gbps upstream. Moving to a different room, the downstream throughput drops to 2.1 Gbps while the upstream throughput maintains easily over 1.4 Gbps. Moving further away, we again observe excellent performances with a stable throughput of 1.4 Gbps in both directions.
Finally, it is worth noting that while we tested a single Eero Pro 7, it is possible to add more boxes to set up a mesh network. However, unless they are interconnected with RJ45, setting up such a network will inevitably affect Wi-Fi performance. Indeed, the Eero Pro 7 does not have a dedicated band for backhaul and must therefore “draw” from its three usual bands to maintain this link.
Eero Pro 7Price and Availability of the Eero Pro 7 Router
The Eero Pro 7 router is priced at a suggested retail price of 350 euros. The set consisting of three boxes is offered at a suggested retail price of 800 euros.
