New Challenger in Mobile Video Editing: Adobe Premiere Coming to iPad and iPhone

Adobe is set to introduce a new player in the mobile video editing arena as it announces the imminent arrival of Adobe Premiere on iPad and iPhone. The company shared the exciting news through a press release, describing the software as a “fast, free, and intuitive” app. The App Store page is already set up for pre-orders, with an official launch date scheduled for September 30.

Streamlined and Intuitive Editing Experience

Adobe promises a streamlined and intuitive user experience with the new app, emphasizing a clutter-free interface that omits unnecessary elements and watermarks to enhance focus. Users will find a colorful timeline equipped with standard editing options such as layering and cutting. The app will also feature automatic subtitles and support for 4K HDR video. Content creators will appreciate the unlimited content layers for video and audio, and the convenience of directly exporting their projects to platforms like TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram.

In further good news, the app will be available at no cost. However, it will include in-app purchases for acquiring AI credits for Firefly, a tool supported by the new Premiere version for generating sound and creating elements. The emphasis in Adobe’s promotions has been primarily on the iPhone version, but an Android version is expected to follow later.

Adobe’s Investment in Mobile Applications

Adobe has been heavily focusing on mobile applications since the beginning of the year. In February, the company launched a new version of Photoshop for iPhone, adapted from the desktop version with core functionalities intact. Additionally, a new app focused on generative AI, Firefox, was released this spring. Lastly, Adobe introduced an app called Project Indigo, designed to emulate DSLR camera output, further showcasing Adobe’s commitment to enhancing mobile creativity.

Update at 19:45: Adobe has shared more details about the iPad version, which will initially offer the same experience as the mobile version but on a larger screen. Plans are in place to optimize it specifically for tablets in the future.
