MacBook Pro 2026-2027 Roadmap Revealed: What’s Next for Apple’s Powerhouse?

July 4, 2026

Quel programme pour le MacBook Pro en 2026 et 2027 ?
The upcoming months are set to be bustling with activity for the MacBook Pro. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has outlined several announcements anticipated for Apple’s premium laptop, with no fewer than four expected in just one year.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro M6 is likely to kick things off this fall. It’s expected to be a minor update to the entry-level MacBook Pro, with no changes in design. This model, codenamed J804, will introduce the M6 chip, the first to be manufactured with TSMC’s 2nm process technology, enhancing its energy efficiency. The chip will also feature a new GPU with two additional cores, an improved Neural Engine, and quicker RAM, approximately 200 GB/s, up from 153 GB/s in today’s M5 chip.

Later, either at the end of 2026 or early 2027, the long-awaited MacBook Pro with an OLED touch screen is expected to debut. Contrary to initial plans, this model will not include the M6 Pro and M6 Max chips. Apple has reportedly halted development on these chips to accelerate the next generation’s development, and this new MacBook Pro will instead use the current M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. These models, codenamed K114 and K116, won’t be more powerful but will feature a new thinner and lighter design centered around tactile OLED screens, with a Dynamic Island replacing the notch, and potentially a cellular option for the first time on a Mac. Apple might name these new models MacBook Ultra to differentiate them more clearly from the standard MacBook Pros (with pricing adjusted accordingly).

Shortly thereafter, in the first half of 2027, the 14-inch MacBook Pro M7 is expected to enter the scene. Codenamed K104, this model will adopt a new design inspired by the premium models with OLED screens. Mark Gurman does not mention a change in screen technology, so it is likely to still feature a non-tactile Mini-LED display. The Apple M7 chip would bring further enhancements designed to accelerate AI capabilities, including a new generation of Neural Engine and increased memory bandwidth, reaching 240 GB/s this time.

Finally, towards the end of 2027, Apple plans to launch the M7 Pro and M7 Max versions of the MacBook Ultra, making a generational leap from the M5 Pro and M5 Max models released a year earlier. Thus, a significant performance boost for these models is expected. It remains unclear whether Apple also plans to update its classic MacBook Pro with the M7 Pro and M7 Max chips or if this will mark its discontinuation.

In June, Apple significantly raised the pricing of the MacBook Pro, now starting at €2,199 from the previous €1,899. This increase comes amid an ongoing memory crisis that isn’t expected to ease soon: thus, price reductions in 2027 are unlikely. It’s worth noting that M5 generation MacBook Pros can still be found at the old prices through various retailers: all references are available on our price comparison tool.
