Apple TV devient diffuseur de la Formule 1 aux États-Unis
Speculations were accurate: starting next year, Apple TV will be broadcasting Formula 1 in the United States. Apple made this announcement through a press release, stating that the deal was inked for a five-year term. While some races and practice sessions will be freely accessible on the Apple TV app throughout the season, a paid subscription to Apple’s streaming service (with no additional costs) will be required to access comprehensive coverage, including all practices, qualifying sessions, sprint sessions, and Grand Prix events. Formula 1 joins Major League Soccer (MLS) and Major League Baseball (MLB), which are already broadcasted on Apple TV.

Apple shared that this partnership “continues to build on the increasingly close relationship between Apple and Formula 1, following the global success of the Apple Original Films’ hit movie F1 The Movie, the most profitable sports film of all time.” The movie garnered $629 million at the box office. Despite its success, the movie will launch on Apple TV—which recently dropped the ‘+’ from its name—starting December 12, but not in France where media chronology laws impose a 17-month delay on Apple.

“We are thrilled to enhance our partnership with Formula 1 and to provide Apple TV subscribers in the United States with privileged access to one of the most exciting and fastest growing sports in the world,” stated Eddy Cue, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Services. “2026 marks a transformative new era for Formula 1, with new teams, new regulations, and cars driven by the world’s top drivers. We look forward to delivering our customers premium and innovative fan-focused coverage, in a way only Apple can.”

The financial terms of the agreement are said to be around $140 million annually, according to recent rumors about the negotiations between Apple and Liberty Media, the owner of the Formula 1 franchise. Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, expressed his enthusiasm: “This is an incredibly promising partnership for both Apple and the entire Formula 1 organization. It will allow us to continue maximizing our growth potential in the United States through relevant content and innovative distribution channels. Having collaborated over the past three years on F1 The Movie, which has already been a worldwide success, we have a strong relationship. We share the same vision: to introduce this exceptional sport to our American fans and attract new ones through live broadcasts, engaging content, and a year-round approach to retain them. I would like to thank Tim Cook, Eddy Cue, and the entire Apple team for their vision and passion for this partnership. We look forward to the next five years together.”
