Apple bien partie pour diffuser la Formule 1 aux États-Unis
Three days ago, the Financial Times revealed that Apple, buoyed by the box office success of its film F1, is showing interest in acquiring the U.S. broadcasting rights for Formula 1. This comes as the current agreement between F1 and ESPN is set to expire next year. According to Business Insider, Apple has reportedly proposed an annual offer of $150 million to broadcast Formula 1 starting from the 2026 season. Disney, which owns ESPN, reportedly does not plan to match this offer. Unless there is an unexpected last-minute change, Apple seems poised to secure the deal.

ESPN’s current contract with Formula 1 is worth $85 million annually. While some anticipated a significant increase in the broadcasting rights at renewal, the jump to Apple’s offer size was unexpected: analysts at Citi, for instance, had predicted a maximum of $121 million. Should this deal go through, Formula 1 would become the third sport featured on Apple TV+, joining Major League Soccer (MLS) and Major League Baseball (MLB).
