The latest Android 16 update has just been rolled out to Pixel smartphones, bringing with it exciting new features. However, a technical glitch has been causing disruptions for some devices, but a fix is already on the way. Affected users can look forward to a swift resolution.
After several months of testing, the Android 16 update is now available in a stable version for Pixel smartphones. This update introduces eagerly awaited features such as battery tracking, enhanced multitasking capabilities, and live notifications. The system is currently available on the latest models, including Pixel 8, Pixel 8a, and Pixel 9. Google is continuously working to enhance the system’s stability with regular updates.
In recent days, a number of users have reported a frustrating bug following the Android 16 installation. The navigation gestures and virtual buttons like “back,” “home,” and “recent apps” sometimes become unresponsive. The issue occurs randomly and affects several generations of Pixel devices. Some users experience delays of several seconds, while others face a complete freeze. Reports indicate that the bug affects both the default launcher and third-party launchers. Although some users have suggested temporary fixes, none truly resolve the issue.

Google has confirmed that it has fixed the bug internally. According to Artem Russakovskii, founder of Android Police, the company has developed a fix that will be included in the next update. This fix is not yet available to the public, but its rollout is expected in the coming days, probably before the end of June. All affected users should soon experience smoother navigation.
While waiting for the official fix, there are several ways to mitigate the effects of the bug. Restarting the phone offers a temporary solution. It’s also possible to clear the cache of the Pixel launcher or to use an alternative launcher. Some users have noticed improvements by installing the Android 16 QPR1 beta version. For those still experiencing frequent freezes, it is advisable to manually check for system updates regularly. The official patch is expected to be released shortly.
