Must-Update Now: Essential Google Pixel Update to Save Your Battery Life!

Pixel 10 Pro

Google recently rolled out an unexpected update for its smartphones, rounding off the year on a high note. The update addresses a number of glitches, including one that causes the battery to drain faster than usual. Here’s how to install it right away.

If you find yourself charging your Pixel smartphone more frequently than normal, you’re not alone. This week, Google released an update for its Pixel 10 that, among other things, fixes a major GPU issue affecting the device’s performance. However, this wasn’t the only issue that needed attention. The Pixel 8, Pixel 9, and Pixel 10 models were also affected by another significant technical problem related to the battery.

While the Pixel 10 update is still only available in beta, this is not the case for the latest update, which is now available for compatible smartphones. This update is so minor that you might have missed it. Nevertheless, it is vital to install it, if you haven’t already, especially if you care about your phone’s battery life. The bug in question causes the battery to deplete much quicker than usual, compelling the user to charge it more frequently — thus wearing it out sooner.

Don’t Delay Installing the Latest Update on Your Pixel Smartphone

The latest update effectively addresses this troublesome issue. Google has not disclosed much about the origins of this problem. Therefore, we can only know that the issue has been theoretically resolved. This is not the only fix, as the company from Mountain View mentions two other issues: a problem with the touchscreen that intermittently stops working, especially on the Pixel 10, and an issue accessing certain cache files for users who upgraded directly from Android 14 to Android 16.

As usual, to install this update, simply go to the settings on your Pixel smartphone, then to the Update section. You should see the new version available, which is only 25 MB in size. Therefore, there is no need to wait for a WiFi connection to download it.
