Apple is Developing a New Siri Remote
Apple’s laboratories are currently developing a new version of the Siri Remote. In May, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that a new remote was in the works, though specific details about its advancements were unclear, and he mentioned it might retain its current design. Today, we still don’t have more details on the features, but there is now evidence supporting Gurman’s claims: in the recently released RC version of macOS 26.7, MacRumors discovered a reference to a remote control labeled ATVRemote1,5. The existing model is identified as ATVRemote1,4.
Potential Upcoming Apple TV Model
The launch of a new Apple TV model seems likely and could be announced at Apple’s event in early September. At the very least, the updated device is expected to include the A17 Pro chip which would support Apple Intelligence. Additionally, it is anticipated to feature the N1 chip for managing Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth, and Thread network capabilities. As for the remote, it may incorporate Apple’s U2 chip, which would enable precise geolocation capabilities similar to an AirTag.
