iOS 27.2: FaceTime finally gets dual-camera capture in group calls

The FaceTime dual-capture capability that Apple introduced with iOS 27 in September was previously limited to one-on-one calls. With the release of iOS 27.2 last night, that same dual-capture mode now works for group FaceTime sessions. Dual capture lets the iPhone show feeds from two cameras at once — the rear camera’s view is shown while a small inset displays the user’s face from the front camera. This feature requires an iPhone 17 or a newer model.

This should not be confused with Duo FaceTime, which is specific to the iPhone Duo. Duo FaceTime makes use of both screens (and their associated cameras) on Apple’s foldable iPhone so participants can join a group call without having to crowd into a single shot.
