iPhone 18 Rumor Alert: Could It Pack 9GB of RAM? Here’s What We Know!

Une autre rumeur table sur 9 Go de RAM pour l'iPhone 18e
Following the iPhone 17’s A19 chip which came with 8 GB of RAM, the upcoming A20 chip set to be featured in next year’s iPhone 18 is expected to upgrade to 9 GB of RAM. Analyst Jeff Pu (via MacRumors), known for his reliable sources, has confirmed this modest increase, a detail previously mentioned by Ming-Chi Kuo in June. Apple had originally planned to jump directly to 12 GB of RAM, but the soaring memory costs have apparently scuttled those plans. While Jeff Pu did not specifically mention the standard iPhone 18, it is anticipated that it will also incorporate the same chip and thus will also see an upgrade to 9 GB of RAM.

This decision implies that the iPhone 18 and its standard variant will not support the most advanced version of Apple Intelligence and Siri AI, which require 12 GB of RAM to operate locally. Although most features should be well supported, certain enhancements such as Siri’s expressive voices (currently unavailable in the EU) and advanced dictation would remain exclusive to the Pro models of the iPhone.
