Introduction of the Annual Navigo Pass for iPhone Delayed Again
The eagerly awaited launch of the annual Navigo pass on the iPhone, initially set for the end of 2025, was first postponed to spring 2026, then to the summer, and later specified for June. As the deadline draws closer, Île-de-France Mobilités has announced yet another delay this morning, now targeting September, aligning with the introduction of the Senior fare, as reported by Nicolas Lellouche. Android users, on the other hand, will receive access as early as July. Student users of the Imagine R pass will need to wait until the academic year 2027.
Testing and Promises
At the end of May, Île-de-France Mobilités (IdFM) began a pilot to transfer the Navigo Annual pass to Android phones, promising that iPhone users would follow “in the coming days.” However, IdFM did not specify exactly how many days this would entail.
Expansion of Contactless Payments
Simultaneously, IdFM confirmed the rollout of bank card validation across the Parisian transport network. Yet, patience is required as the full adoption across the entire network is not expected until “around 2030,” with an initial focus on tourist-heavy routes. The implementation will kick off at Orly on June 30. Following this, July 2027 is set for the introduction on metro line 1, late 2027 for lines 4 and 14, and by the end of 2028 for lines 7 and 12.
