Repositioning of Dynamic Island in the New iPhone Air
The iPhone Air, which was unveiled this past Tuesday, features a notable change in the placement of its Dynamic Island compared to other models. As captured in the image below by 极客湾Geekerwan, the front sensors of the iPhone 16 Pro and Apple’s new ultra-slim smartphone are compared. The image distinctly shows that the screen area above the black pill of the front sensors is significantly thicker on the iPhone Air than on the iPhone 16 Pro. This adjustment is unique to the iPhone Air; the Dynamic Island remains unchanged on the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro.
Unannounced Adjustment by Apple
This particular change was not mentioned by Apple during its official presentation. It is speculated that this adjustment is due to the depth requirements of the sensors necessary for Face ID functionality. The Dynamic Island likely had to be lowered to fit within the back “shelf” of the device.
