Upcoming Changes to iPhone 18 Pro Models
Ice Universe, a reliable source in the tech field, informed us back in January about Apple’s plan to reduce the width of the Dynamic Island on its iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models by 35% this coming September. The modification will see the width shrink from 20.76 mm to 13.49 mm. This past weekend, Ice Universe revealed that there will be no alterations to the thickness of the screen’s borders. Additionally, an intriguing piece of information was shared: this narrowing of the Dynamic Island will not be exclusive to the Pro models—the standard iPhone 18 will also feature it when it launches in early 2027.
Insight on the Dynamic Island Feature
The authenticity of the photo above remains uncertain—whether it is a digital creation or an actual leak of the glass to be used in the iPhone 18 Pro. Nonetheless, the image offers a visual representation of what to expect in comparison to the current Dynamic Island. For those who haven’t noticed, the Dynamic Island is split into two sections, with a segment of the screen situated between the camera and the other sensors. Although this area remains black most of the time, it is where Apple displays the green indicator that signals the webcam is active.
Rumors and Misunderstandings About Sensor Placement
In recent months, there have been rumors suggesting that sensors may be positioned in the top-left corner of the screen. However, this information appears to be misinterpreted. Apple has indeed relocated some sensors to this corner, but these are specifically the ones removed from the Dynamic Island. Consequently, they are hidden under the pixels and no longer necessarily need to be centered.
