iOS 26 Enhances iPhone ID Sharing Capabilities
iOS 26 introduces an improved method for sharing iPhone credentials, which can be particularly handy in locations such as Apple Stores or authorized service centers. This update includes the option to display a barcode or use the iPhone’s NFC chip, which can be read by a technician’s application. To access this feature, navigate to Settings > General > Information, and then press and hold on EID, IMEI, or IMEI 2. A menu will appear, giving you the option to either display the corresponding barcode or share all IDs at once through a set of three barcodes and a button to activate the NFC chip to transmit the information.
Convenience for Technicians Over Regular Users
This new feature may not be as exciting for the average user as it is for repair technicians, who will likely find it extremely useful. The process of sharing these details has often been cumbersome, making this streamlined approach a welcome change for Apple Store employees and authorized service providers.
