Apple is diligently progressing with the testing of iOS 26, aiming for a formal release in September. The latest update, the fourth public beta, has been rolled out for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, setting the stage for the imminent launch of the stable version, likely coinciding with the unveiling of the iPhone 17.

Over the past few weeks, iOS 26 has gradually revealed its capabilities through various beta versions. This upgrade is touted as the most significant overhaul ever on the iPhone, featuring a visual redesign and enhanced integration of Apple’s artificial intelligence technology, Apple Intelligence. Notable new features introduced include the Liquid Glass effect, dynamic wallpapers, and the nearly instantaneous opening of certain apps.

The fourth public beta is now available to users enrolled in the testing program, following the release of beta 6 on August 11 and the developer beta 7 issued on the same day. According to CNET, this release primarily focuses on bug fixes and stability enhancements to solidify the update before its final rollout in September. Concurrently, Apple has also released public betas of macOS 26 and iPadOS 26.

iOS 26 Nears Official Release with Public Beta 4

Apple is adhering to its typical schedule: the stable version is expected to launch next month, alongside the introduction of the iPhone 17. Testers who download the public beta can explore the new features, though it is recommended not to install it on a primary iPhone. The installation can be done via the settings menu, under the software update section, after a free registration to the beta program.

Since June, the iOS 26 betas have introduced numerous practical and aesthetic enhancements. For instance, Apple has revamped the lock screen to be more transparent and readable, incorporated AI tools for generating images and real-time translation, and expanded the capabilities of the Messages app with new options.

Each update further refines the speed and smoothness of the system, underscoring that iOS 26 aims not only to transform iPhones but also to enhance their stability. This redesign is presented by Apple as the most ambitious in the history of iOS. The release of public beta 4 indicates that Apple is nearing the completion of its goals.
