Revealed at WWDC 2026, the upcoming version of the iPhone’s operating system will continue to support the same models as iOS 26, ranging from the iPhone 11 to the latest devices.

On Monday, June 8, 2026, during the opening keynote of the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple unveiled iOS 27. The next major update to the iPhone operating system focuses on a new version of the voice assistant named Siri AI, advances in Apple Intelligence, and enhancements in performance and responsiveness. In terms of compatibility, the Cupertino-based company has maintained the same list of devices supported by iOS 26.

No iPhone Left Behind This Year

Apple has announced that iOS 27 will support the same models as iOS 26. Essentially, any iPhone that can run iOS 26 will be able to install iOS 27 upon its release, without any exceptions. Here is the complete list of compatible devices:

This consistency is a change from last year: iOS 26 had excluded the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max. This year, no models have been dropped from the list, with the iPhone 11 (released in 2019) remaining the oldest supported device.

Rollout Expected in the Fall

The first beta for developers has been available since the day of the keynote. Apple plans for a public beta in July, followed by a broader release in the fall. If the company follows its usual schedule, the final version should be launched in September, alongside the unveiling of the next iPhones.

iOS 27 Deployment Schedule

  • June 8, 2026: first beta for developers
  • July 2026: public beta
  • Fall 2026: general release (likely in September)

However, compatibility with iOS 27 does not guarantee access to all new features. Functions relying on artificial intelligence, including Siri AI and the new generation of Apple Intelligence, require a more recent device: iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any model from the iPhone 16 series onwards. Owners of older iPhone models will be able to install the update but will not have access to these features. Apple also noted that Europe would have to wait a bit longer for the rollout of features related to Siri AI.
