HyperX Cloud Jet Dual Wireless Review: Affordable Gaming Headset Impresses!

Test HyperX Cloud Jet Dual Wireless : un casque gaming pas cher et réussi
The HyperX Cloud Jet Dual Wireless headset stands out for its appealing price-quality ratio, promising an immersive audio experience without breaking the bank. Let’s see if it lives up to its promises.

The newly unveiled HyperX Cloud Jet Dual Wireless gaming headset is the most budget-friendly model from the brand recently acquired by HP. Even better, it is a wireless model featuring dual connectivity (2.4 GHz and Bluetooth), focusing on sound performance and comfort.

It naturally includes a foldable microphone and promises up to 25 hours of battery life. At an aggressive price point of 60 euros, it’s a compelling offer. If it delivers on its promise, the Cloud Jet could be one of the most recommendable models of the year 2025.

Plastic, Lightness, and Comfort

It comes as no surprise that the Cloud Jet is made entirely of plastic. Although the brand has opted for a slightly textured black material, it doesn’t negate the somewhat “toy-like” and ultimately fragile appearance of the Cloud Jet. However, this isn’t necessarily a deal-breaker. Indeed, headsets twice as expensive, such as Corsair’s Void Wireless V2, share this characteristic.

Overall, the headset has a rather bulky and solid design. It resembles a modernized version of the Cloud Stinger, another entry-level model from the brand. It is not unattractive visually and is mostly more subdued than the traditional Cloud models, which often sport a very bold red color. Note that the Cloud Jet also comes in a very successful blue finish.

HyperX has chosen a suspended headband design, consisting of an upper part integrated with the rest of the headset, containing an elastic band that rests on the skull. While comfortable, this headband is not adjustable. As a result, the Cloud Jet might be a bit tight for those with larger heads. The fabric elastic band, although removable, cannot be moved either.

The junction of the headband with the ear cups allows for slight movement to adjust the headset to the user’s head shape. However, it is impossible to rotate them 90°. The yoke that holds the ear cups, on the other hand, offers a more generous range of motion on the horizontal axis, again for better adjustment. Lastly, the generous padding of the ear cushions and their fabric covering makes the headset comfortable for extended use while allowing the ears to breathe.

All controls, as well as the connections, are located on the left ear cup. Here you’ll find a multifunction button, a volume adjustment wheel, and a switch to toggle between the two connection modes. The headset is charged via a USB port.

As a proper gaming headset, the Cloud Jet also features a microphone. This one is foldable and includes the convenient ‘flip to mute’ function, which automatically cuts off capture when the boom is lifted. The boom proves convincing with its length and easy positioning, thanks to its memory foam design found on other headsets from the brand.

Dual Connectivity and Limited Battery Life

Despite its attractive price, the Cloud Jet Dual Wireless, as the name suggests, is a wireless headset. It thus offers two modes of connection: a dedicated 2.4 GHz link via a USB dongle and Bluetooth connectivity that makes it compatible with just about any device. Note that the USB C port can only be used for charging and does not allow for wired use of the headset.

During our test, the 2.4 GHz connection was stable and effective. The discreet USB adapter ensures a reliable connection, even several meters away from the computer. It was notably possible to continue using the headset from another room without experiencing any cutouts or noticeable degradation in the broadcast. Switching between the two modes of connection is handled by a physical switch, making it logically impossible to use them simultaneously.

When it comes to battery life, the Cloud Jet falls short. Compared to the Cloud Alpha Wireless and its 300 hours of battery life, this newcomer looks quite modest. The brand claims up to 25 hours of battery life away from a power source using Bluetooth and barely 20 hours via the USB adapter. However, we can only confirm these figures since the headset just manages to exceed 20 hours of continuous use during our tests.

Adequate Sound Paired with a Disappointing Microphone

HyperX has always been known for creating headsets that deliver good sound performance. Despite its aggressive pricing, the Cloud Jet is no exception, proportionally speaking. The sound output is quite adequate and without any deal-breaking flaws. However, we noted that the bass frequencies are surprisingly recessed (for a gaming headset) and thus the sound lacks warmth.

In gaming, explosions and other impactful sounds will thus lack presence, without too negatively affecting the experience. In return, the Cloud Jet offers decent stereo sound and a sufficiently wide soundstage to properly immerse oneself in the game’s atmosphere, while allowing for good localization of sound origins.

While not the best companion for audiophiles, the Cloud Jet nevertheless delivers a performance adequate enough for music listening. Especially, it’s hard to be too critical given its aggressive pricing. Other much more expensive headsets we’ve reviewed have performed much worse!

The microphone is disappointing. The voice is very muffled, and the capsule is particularly sensitive to breath sounds (as our recording shows). Moreover, the microphone appears to have no noise reduction and will not help cancel out ambient sounds. In short, you won’t have the clearest voice on your Discord server.

Just a Headset, with No Extra Settings

As we write this review, the Cloud Jet Dual Wireless is not compatible with the NGenuity app, which is usually used to control the brand’s peripherals. HyperX assures us that compatibility is indeed planned eventually, but no date has been communicated yet.

Currently, the headset’s features are thus limited. Without the ability to use a dedicated app, it’s impossible to set an equalizer or customize the headset’s operation. It’s also impossible to know the remaining battery level, and only the power button is of interest in controlling multimedia playback.
