The social network has finally decided to take action against a growing issue…
While some users have abandoned Mark Zuckerberg’s renowned social network, it appears that Meta is making significant efforts to enhance Facebook’s reputation.
In a statement released on Thursday, April 24, the company explicitly announced that it will implement anti-spam measures on its platform. According to the announcement, this update was prompted by numerous complaints from users.
Limiting the Reach of Certain Posts
To clarify its strategy to combat spam, Facebook provided some specific details. First, posts that are considered too long or too “distracting” from certain influencers are set to have their reach diminished, though it was not specified whether artificial intelligence plays a role in this decision.
In its announcement, Facebook also intends to take action against content creators who post photos with unrelated captions. However, beyond changes to its algorithm, Facebook plans to take even more drastic steps…
Towards Higher Quality Content
Long criticized for the poor quality of its feed and content, with this update, Facebook aims to demonstrate transparency and offer substantially better-quality content.
To encourage content creators to share higher quality posts, Facebook will also implement measures against certain influencers by making them ineligible for monetization.
Furthermore, Facebook is expected to initiate a sweeping deletion of pages deemed too artificial or solely used to generate fake engagements.
While Facebook’s measures may be severe, it is still too early to predict how influencers will respond. Indeed, some may choose to focus their efforts on other platforms within the Meta group, such as Instagram, or on competitors like TikTok.
Efforts to Regain Users?
In recent months, Meta has been actively promoting Facebook. While it seemed that the company might focus more on WhatsApp and Instagram, Mark Zuckerberg surprisingly announced a return to the so-called “OG Facebook,” the original version from its early days.
This was evident last month with the launch of a new “Friends” tab that only highlights posts from friends. However, this alone might not be enough to lure users back to the platform…
