The iMac M1’s Potential Design Variation
According to a photo shared by collector Kosutami, the iMac M1 might have featured a slightly different design. Apple considered placing its logo in black on the front ‘chin’ panel of its all-in-one computer that was released in 2021. This design element was ultimately not included as the product moved into the EVT (Engineering Validation Testing) phase of development. As a result, the iconic bitten apple logo is only visible on the back of the iMac M1.
Prototype Design Reveals
While it’s not particularly shocking that Apple experimented with this design aspect, it’s quite uncommon for images of prototype models to be seen publicly. Apple has maintained the same design for the iMac since the 2021 model. There are expectations that a new version featuring an M5 chip could be released by the end of this year, likely retaining the same design aesthetic as its predecessors.
