According to Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, Apple has reportedly worked with LG to create a lineup of smart home devices that LG would sell under its own name. The collaboration is said to cover a connected doorbell, a smart lock, a thermostat, an indoor security camera, an outdoor security camera and a camera with an integrated floodlight. Apple is believed to have assisted in shaping both features and industrial design so the devices fit smoothly into Apple’s smart home ecosystem.

Gurman continues to expect Apple to introduce three new home-focused products — he still pins the announcement to October 13 — although Apple has not confirmed anything as the date approaches. The reveal is said to include refreshed Apple TV 4K models and a new HomePod mini, along with a completely new home hub featuring a novel design and operating system. The LG-made accessories would be part of that broader push, but their release has reportedly slipped and Gurman doesn’t anticipate they’ll be available for several months.
LG appears to have begun the regulatory process in the U.S., filing the devices for testing with the FCC. Those filings include some technical drawings, while the actual test photos remain under wraps for now. Gurman notes the products are expected to support Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, Thread and Matter standards, and the smart lock may also include Ultra-Wideband so it can unlock automatically when an authorized user approaches.
Apple has a history of teaming up with third-party manufacturers to produce items it deems lower priority for in‑house development — a strategy that “lets Apple expand its ecosystem quickly without taking on the full cost and complexity of producing and supporting a wide array of accessories.” The company has collaborated with firms like Belkin and Logitech in the past, and previously partnered with LG on the UltraFine display Apple once sold before reentering the monitor market in 2022.
Gurman points out that working with LG wouldn’t stop Apple from releasing its own accessories. One Apple-branded product reportedly in development is a battery-powered security sensor that would function like a camera but would not record video. Instead of storing footage, it would rely on Apple Intelligence to detect and describe events. That device is said to be slated for a 2027 release.
