Realme P3 5G Review: Best Gaming Phone Under €200 Unveiled!

December 20, 2025

Test du Realme P3 5G : le champion du gaming à moins de 200 euros
With the P3 5G, Realme offers an entry-level smartphone for less than 250 euros, focusing primarily on performance and battery life.

Keeping up with Realme’s rapid release pace is challenging, especially with their new naming conventions that seem to appear out of nowhere. The P3 5G, for instance, is actually the successor to the Realme 13. Interestingly, in China, it is known as the Realme 14, adding to the confusion.

The P3 presents itself as a budget-friendly smartphone at 250 euros, boasting notable features. Like many entry-level phones, it focuses heavily on performance and battery life, featuring the previously unseen Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 at this price point and a large 5260 mAh silicon-carbon battery, a technology typically reserved for high-end models.

It competes with the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy A16 and Nothing’s CMF Phone 2 Pro, both of which are established models. It remains to be seen how Realme plans to carve out a niche in this competitive segment.

Realme P3Price and Availability

Uncharacteristically, let’s start by discussing the P3 5G’s price.

Launched on June 24th in France, it was introduced at a price of 229 euros. Today, it is readily available for 199 euros on Amazon.

This price is for the version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. There is also a version with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage for just over 250 euros.

In short, it is definitely among the most affordable smartphones on the market, a crucial factor to consider before we delve into this review.

Realme P3Design

Realme opts for a rather standard design. The P3 resembles many other recently released devices with its flat design all around. The back is made of plastic and the frame is metallic. It comes in two finishes: a striking green and a gray. Despite its features, including a large battery, it maintains a reasonable thickness of less than 8 mm. Its large 6.67-inch screen is framed by a rather prominent black border, but Realme slightly deceives by extending the green frame with a rounded black edge that might be mistaken for the screen when it is just an additional plastic border.

This addition and the junction between the frame and the back are quite pronounced. The grip is not uncomfortable, but it can feel a bit harsh in certain positions.

Around the phone, you’ll find the usual Power and Volume buttons. An in-screen fingerprint sensor is used for unlocking. From its first use, you can tell it is a budget phone. The accompanying vibration lacks a premium feel.

The back features a brushed metal effect texture that looks quite nice. The logo is subtle, and legal information is relegated to the edge. The camera module has moved back to a rectangular shape. Positioned on the left side, it is not very thick. It houses two lenses and a flash, and a slight chamfer on its left side gives it a bit of style.

Realme P3Screen

A 6.67-inch diagonal is quite comfortable. Moreover, Realme delights with an AMOLED Full HD+ display (2400 x 1080 pixels) that supports a 120 Hz refresh rate and a touch sampling rate of up to 1500 Hz. Realme describes it as an “e-sport screen.”

Realme promises a brightness of 600 nits and 2000 nits at peak. We used our probe and CalMAN Ultimate software from Portrait Displays to conduct our measurements.

It turns out that the display exceeds 600 nits, but does not reach the promised 2000 nits. Exposed to strong external light, the panel reaches 1000 nits in both SDR and HDR, which is quite impressive for the price. It ensures comfortable use in almost all conditions.

Is it well-calibrated? Yes, it is, in its Natural color setting. Here, we achieve an average DeltaE of 2.65, below the target of 3 which defines the limit where the human eye can no longer discern color aberrations. In HDR, it slightly exceeds the target of 6, but nothing detrimental. However, a slightly less warm white would have been appreciated. Here, we are at 6137K, against the 6500K target.

Despite this, it’s hard to be too critical of this panel which still offers great features for an entry-level smartphone.

Realme P3Performance

The P3 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, a 5G chip that is still unfamiliar in our old Europe. A few models from Honor, Oppo, and Realme were the first to feature it in Asia.

We discussed this SoC last February when it was announced, aiming to provide solid performance at a reduced price. More CPU and GPU performance and reduced consumption compared to previous Snapdragon 6 models.

Equipped with this, the P3 dominates its price range. Only our favorite in the segment, the CMF Phone 2 Pro, keeps up. Moreover, the Realme smartphone can boast of being more powerful than some more expensive models, like the very recent Fairphone 6 and almost as fast as its big brother, the Realme 14 Pro+ 5G.

In use, there are no particular issues. Paired with 12 GB of RAM, Qualcomm’s SoC does not falter in daily tasks.

And most interestingly, the stability of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4. Here, it is well-cooled enough not to automatically throttle and delivers its full potential even over time. Thus, it easily breezed through our one-hour stress test, at the end of which we recorded a maximum temperature of 38°C on the casing. Ideal.

Realme P3Software

The Realme P3 runs on Android 15 with the in-house Realme UI 6.0 software. The overall experience is smooth and pleasant for daily use, with a well-thought-out and easy-to-use interface, similar to what is found on OnePlus and Oppo.

Realme offers a feature-rich interface and customization options. It includes good ideas like “live alerts,” a counterpart to Apple’s Dynamic Island, and a side bar offering handy shortcuts, including an on-the-fly translation tool.

An experimental menu, “realme Labs,” even allows you to activate a heart rate measurement via the fingerprint reader. It’s not as accurate as a dedicated sensor, but it can be useful. Similarly, the dual audio connection allows audio to be streamed to both a Bluetooth headset and a wired headset (USB-C) simultaneously. Convenient for watching a series together.

However, not everything is perfect. The main downside of this software experience is the significant amount of bloatware. There are about twenty pre-installed apps that must be manually uninstalled one by one.

Regarding artificial intelligence, ambitions remain modest. While the smartphone does integrate Google tools like Gemini and Surround for search, the functions developed by Realme are limited and not very effective. We’re thinking of facial enhancement (it’s worse afterward), or the magic eraser whose lasso is rather approximate.

Finally, for the price asked, the manufacturer makes an honest promise on software support, guaranteeing four years of major Android updates and six years of security patches.

Realme P3Photography

The Realme P3 does not feature multiple sensors. It focuses on a main sensor that it aims to be of high quality. It is complemented by a depth sensor and a selfie sensor.

  • 50 MP wide-angle, 1/2.88″, f/1.8, with optical stabilization,
  • 2 MP depth sensor,
  • and 16 MP selfie sensor, 1/3.09″, f/2.4.

There is no ultra-wide sensor and only digital zoom that goes up to x10. No, the P3 is not a photophone, but that is not its claim. Let’s see how it manages with what it has.
