iPhone 18 Pro Rumor: Could It Feature a Massive Vapor Chamber?

Une chambre à vapeur bien plus grande sur l'iPhone 18 Pro ?

The Upgraded Cooling System of the iPhone 18 Pro

The iPhone 18 Pro is rumored to feature a significantly larger vapor chamber than its predecessor, the iPhone 17 Pro. A leaked image showing the mounting points of this new component was shared by @Reptalicant, along with the scanner of the redesigned, narrower Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro. The image reveals a taller vapor chamber that spans the entire width of the area reserved for the battery.

How the Vapor Chamber Enhances Cooling

First introduced in the iPhone 17 Pro last year, the vapor chamber operates similarly to a heat pipe. It contains demineralized water that evaporates when heated, moves towards a cooler area, condenses back into liquid, and then returns to its original location. This component has significantly improved the device’s ability to dissipate heat.

Leak Origin and Additional Discoveries

The image of the iPhone 18 Pro’s vapor chamber appears to have been leaked as part of a cyberattack on Tata Electronics, which was disclosed last week. This attack also unveiled a drop test video that subtly hints at design changes and provided a glimpse of the narrower Dynamic Island scanner. Additionally, a schematic of the iPhone 18 Pro’s motherboard was discovered, showcasing promising upgrades for the A20 Pro chip. This includes a modular design where the RAM is positioned next to the CPU and GPU, potentially enhancing the cooling performance of these components.
