YouTube Premium is now testing a subscription option designed for two users in various countries, including some in Europe and beyond. The service starts with a free first month, after which it costs 19.99 euros per month. This plan includes benefits such as ad-free viewing, offline playback, and background listening.
This pricing sets it apart from the individual subscription, which is priced at 12.99 euros, and is slightly cheaper than the Family plan at 23.99 euros. YouTube seems to be targeting duos such as couples or siblings whose parents may not be interested in the service themselves and choose it only for their children. It’s important to note that all users must live at the same address and be at least 13 years old. This plan also appears to be a strategy to combat account sharing.
Interestingly, this two-person offer isn’t always prominently displayed on the homepage. It appeared a few days ago, was visible again today, but then vanished after clicking on its title.
The concept of a dual subscription is not unique to YouTube, as similar plans are available through other services like Deezer and Spotify, which offer their duo plans for between 15 and 16 euros.
