If you’ve ever considered buying an iPhone, iPad, or another Apple product, you’re likely aware of the hefty repair costs. For instance, replacing the screen on the iPhone 18 Pro Max alone will set you back $379, nearly a third of the phone’s price. AppleCare+ eases these costs somewhat, provided you’re ready to commit to a monthly subscription.
Covering multiple devices under AppleCare can quickly become costly, particularly for families with several Apple users. AppleCare One already allows coverage for up to three devices under one plan, and now, AppleCare One Family extends this to up to six individuals at a cost of $50 per month.
Eligible devices for coverage
The range of devices you can add to this plan is quite broad. Any device that is eligible for AppleCare will automatically join the Family plan upon enrollment, including any gadgets bought in the last 60 days.

Devices older than four years, or AirPods and Beats older than a year, must pass a device check to ensure they are in suitable condition. This check can be performed remotely or by visiting an Apple Store. It’s also specified that no more than six Vision Pro headsets can be added to a single plan.
Standard AppleCare+ service fees remain applicable. Battery replacements are free under the plan, while screen and back glass repairs are charged at $29. Other types of accidental damage incur a $99 fee, and theft or loss claims are subject to a $149 deductible. Additionally, you are limited to six loss and theft claims within a year.
Devices will remain covered as long as your AppleCare One Family Plan remains active, and they must connect to an Apple server at least once every 12 months. However, Apple has specified that devices may be removed from the plan if parts necessary for repairs are no longer available.

The coverage also depends on devices being signed into a family member’s Apple Account. If they sign out, and a non-family member later signs in, coverage will cease.
Setting up AppleCare One Family
Currently, AppleCare One Family is available only in the United States. Any adult member of a Family Sharing Group can initiate the setup process. Payments are made automatically by the family organizer, regardless of which adult signed up. However, the initiator
