Rising Costs Beyond Hardware
If you were under the impression that the increase in prices for Macs and iPads was the extent of Apple’s price adjustments, you’d be mistaken. Apple has now also increased the prices for AppleCare+ for various Mac and iPad models, with monthly fees going up by $0.50 and annual fees by $5.
However, it’s important to note a few exceptions to these changes. These new rates will only apply to new purchases, meaning current AppleCare+ subscribers will not see their existing rates increase. Additionally, the AppleCare One plan, which covers up to three devices, will not see a price change.

For more specific details, the price adjustments for AppleCare+ are as follows:
| Model | Old Monthly Price | New Monthly Price | Old Yearly Price | New Yearly Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| iPad Pro 11-inch | $9.99 | $10.49 | $99.99 | $104.99 |
| iPad Pro 13-inch | $10.99 | $11.49 | $109.99 | $114.99 |
| iPad Air 11-inch | $5.99 | $6.49 | $59.99 | $64.99 |
According to Bloomberg, for a 13-inch MacBook Air, the monthly rate has increased from $7.49 to $7.99, with the annual rate now at $80 compared to last week’s $75. These adjustments are uniform across all Mac, MacBook, and iPad models, although, so far, other Apple products have not been affected by these price increases.
Future Expectations
While other Apple products haven’t yet seen similar increases, it’s possible they could in the near future. The cost of parts is rising, which likely will affect repair costs and, consequently, AppleCare+ rates. Although there’s no official confirmation yet, it’s reasonable to anticipate that AppleCare+ costs for products like the iPhone and Apple Watch might also increase, especially if the expected price hikes for the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro materialize.
If you’ve been considering enrolling in AppleCare+ to protect your Apple devices, it might be wise to do so sooner rather than later. Although the increases have already taken effect for Macs and iPads, giving potential buyers time to consider their options.
Expanding Payment Options for iPads
In related news, Apple has introduced a new 36-month carrier financing option for cellular-capable iPads, supplementing the existing 12-month interest-free financing. This longer-term plan, provided by carriers rather than directly by Apple, requires a data plan and is currently only available through AT&T or Verizon.
This move could be particularly beneficial for customers affected by the recent price hikes, as it allows for more manageable monthly payments over a longer period. For instance, the new price for an 11-inch iPad Pro with cellular capabilities is $1,399, up from the previous $1,110. Spreading this cost over three years results in payments of just under $39 per month.
However, this does mean committing to regular payments for the full term, regardless of changes in personal circumstances. But for those planning to keep their iPad Pro for several years, this could make the high upfront cost more bearable.
