When we talk about cordless stick vacuums… Dyson and Rowenta often come to mind, but Tineco, known primarily for their robot vacuums, is not usually on that list. However, we have put Tineco’s Pure One A90S to the test.

Tineco is no longer just an underdog. With the Pure One A90S, the Chinese company pulls out all the stops to challenge Dyson. They promise a high power output of 270 AW, intelligent dust detection, and substantial battery life. The spec sheet is impressive, but here’s our hands-on review to see if it lives up to the hype. We set aside our Dyson for 10 days to exclusively use the Tineco.

Design, Setup, and Ergonomics
Upon unboxing the vacuum, you immediately notice the robust construction. The plastics are dense, the assembly precise, and there’s no creaking. It’s a solid, substantial product that feels durable. The weight doesn’t give you pause about bumping it slightly.
With its top-mounted display and sizable brush, it’s clear this is not a budget model. However, the design’s density has one drawback: balance. The weight is concentrated in the hand, making lateral movements somewhat tiring after ten minutes of cleaning.
A standout feature is the 180° foldable tube. A simple click and you can easily clean under furniture without straining your back. It’s so effective that it’s surprising not all brands include this feature by default.
The 3DSense Master brush is large and heavy but extremely effective. It incorporates ultra-powerful green LEDs which are tremendously helpful in ensuring no spot is missed.
The display features an iLoop ring, reminiscent of Apple’s design aesthetic, which changes from red to blue to indicate cleanliness. While it might seem gimmicky, it provides instant visual feedback on whether more cleaning is needed on a particular spot, becoming quite addictive to use.
Regarding the trigger, Tineco includes a handy switch to lock the vacuum in continuous suction mode, sparing you from having to hold down the button continuously— a significant ergonomic relief.
The storage stand is freestanding, eliminating the need to drill holes in your walls. All accessories neatly clip into place, ideal for renters or those averse to using drills. However, the placement of the power cord in the middle of the station is a bit unsightly as it dangles somewhat awkwardly.
The buttons for changing accessories are somewhat stiff and may require extra force to release the tube or brush.
Performance
In use, the 270 AW power is immediately noticeable. On tile, it’s a pleasure; crumbs, dirt, and pine needles tracked in by shoes are all picked up in a single pass without needing to go over the same spot twice. The vacuum sometimes feels like it’s “sticking” to the floor due to its powerful suction.
On carpets, the DustSense technology automatically adjusts power. You can hear the motor ramp up when it encounters a tougher area. The results are spotless, even on long-pile carpets that typically trap hairs.
The ZeroTangle system lives up to its promises. Long hairs and carpet fibers were vacuumed without getting wrapped around the roller.
Moreover, the Tineco Pure One A90S features a SmartLift (or Clogless) system for large debris. A switch on the handle adjusts the opening to effortlessly suck up larger items like pet food or cereal without bending down or clogging.
Despite weighing 3.9 kg (one of the heaviest in the market), the Tineco Pure One A90S remains highly maneuverable thanks to its excellent balance and flexible joints.
However, the major downside is its performance on crevices. On old parquet floors, the auto mode can be somewhat lazy, requiring the max mode to effectively clean dust lodged in cracks.
Noise levels are a pleasant surprise. Where some competitors sound like jet engines, the A90S remains relatively quiet. In auto mode, it stays around 60 dB—equivalent to a normal conversation—allowing you to vacuum without waking the entire house or drowning out the TV. Even in max mode, it doesn’t exceed 64 dB.
However, the battery life doesn’t quite meet its lofty marketing claims of 105 minutes. In practical use, expect about 35 minutes in auto mode and just under 23 minutes in max mode. It would be nice if it lasted a bit longer.
Application
The Wi-Fi connection works well. The Tineco LIFE app allows you to monitor cleaning history and filter status.
These functions are initially interesting but quickly become superfluous, except perhaps for those who appreciate a smartphone notification to empty the dustbin. The integrated LED display already shows all the essential information (dirt level, battery status, blockages).
Maintenance
Starting with a strong point: emptying the 0.8 L dustbin is straightforward. Press a button, the bottom opens, and the dust falls out. The ScrapeRing system scrapes the inside of the bin to prevent hair from sticking to the sides. You don’t even need to detach the tube.
Accessing the filters is just as impressive. No tools are needed. The HEPA filter block is easily removable. Tineco has considered durability: everything is designed for easy cleaning. The air exiting the machine is clean; no dust smell escapes during cleaning.
The filter and dustbin are washable, which is crucial for maintaining optimal suction over time. Once rinsed and dried, the vacuum performs like new. This user-friendly design is a boon, even for the least handy among us.
The brush also disassembles easily. A small latch on the side releases the roller for thorough cleaning. Since there’s no tangled hair, cleaning the brush under a faucet takes just thirty seconds.
The 6-stage filtration system is a significant benefit for allergy sufferers. The filtration is thorough, not just a simple foam piece but a real barrier against fine particles. In this regard, Tineco matches the best in the industry.
The charging station keeps all accessories within easy reach, ensuring nothing is misplaced. Lastly, the removable battery is a plus for longevity—provided you can find replacement batteries to rejuvenate the vacuum as needed.
Price and Availability
At around €600, the Tineco Pure One A90S is not cheap. Fortunately, discounts are frequently available, so it’s wise to keep an eye on sales and events like Black Friday.
