The Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold was officially revealed at the Made by Google 2026 event. This new foldable smartphone features some impressive upgrades, yet I found it hard to get excited about the product during my hands-on experience. Why? Because of its appearance.
A Somewhat Outdated Design
There’s a subjective element to the feedback I’m sharing, but I have some genuinely good reasons for my impressions.

Earlier this summer, I tested the Honor Magic V6 and am currently reviewing the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra after giving my full thoughts on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 compact model. These models showcase a mastery of sleekness in their design, reaching thicknesses of only 4 or 4.1 mm for the first two mentioned. It’s both refined AND practical.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold, despite its efforts to slim down (5 mm when unfolded), still suffers in comparison to these designs that are more in tune with current trends.
This is further highlighted by a kind of visual imbalance in the smartphone when it is folded: on one side, the corners are squared, and on the other, they are rounded.
And finally, when you open the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, the large black borders around the inner screen also lack that touch of elegance. The mitigation of the fold in the middle of the screen is also lagging behind what Honor and Samsung offer, although it’s not catastrophic.

Fortunately, the Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold has several strengths to highlight. For starters, Google presents it as being three times more robust than the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, with a multi-alloy steel hinge and an IP68 rating against water and dust (nobody does better in terms of dust resistance on foldable smartphones).
Next, I must emphasize the improvements made by Google: the device is about 1 mm thinner and weighs 239 grams (compared to 258 grams of the previous generation). So it’s still behind the competition in this regard, but the firm from Mountain View is progressing quickly.
During my hands-on, I really liked the feel of it. The back of the Pixel 11 Pro Fold features a matte glass composite, the frame is made of aluminum, and it comes in two colors: Olive and Volcanic Black. As I already mentioned in my first impressions of the Pixel 11 Pro and 11 Pro XL, I always like matte finishes.
Two OLED Screens, 20% Brighter
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold maintains the dual OLED screen setup with adaptive 120 Hz mode, but pushes them further in terms of brightness with a peak announced at 3600 nits.
| Screen | Diagonal | Definition |
|---|---|---|
| External (folded) | 6.5 inches | 1,080 x 2,342 (399 ppi) |
| Internal (unfolded) | 8 inches | 2,076 x 2,152 (372 ppi) |
The internal screen’s format is quite square, which may be less appealing today as the Fold 8 and soon the iPhone Ultra are introducing foldable smartphones in a 4:3 format when unfolded.
However, the external screen closely resembles the format of a traditional smartphone.
Revamped Camera Section and Bubbles for the Large Screen
The main camera sensor of the Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold has been improved. It still has a 48-megapixel resolution, but it’s supposed to capture 56% more light compared to the previous generation (useful for night shots). It is supported by a 10.5-megapixel ultra-wide angle and a stabilized 10.8-megapixel telephoto lens, with a x5 optical zoom and a Super Zoom pushed up to x30 digitally.

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold, like the other models in the range, also benefits from the new Magic Capture function that intelligently extracts photos from your videos.
The large screen is particularly useful for multitasking. You can display two apps side by side, drag an image or a link from one to the other, or keep up to five apps as floating bubbles to save space. The Gemini assistant is integrated throughout the interface, and Google also talks about a Pixel 11 Pro Fold specifically designed for Gemini Intelligence, making AI even more proactive by anticipating your needs. It remains to be seen what exact functions will be available in France or in French.
Inside, there’s the Google Tensor G6 chip, announced to be 20% more energy-efficient than the previous model’s chip, and particularly optimized for AI tasks and photo processing. You can also count on seven years of Android updates (starting with Android 17 out of the box) and the same amount of time on security patches. That’s always a solid argument.
Finally, the 4,806 mAh battery aims for over 24 hours of battery life and recovers 50% in about thirty minutes wired (30 W). The wireless charging Pixelsnap magnetized climbs to 25 W in this generation thanks to Qi2.2.
