In case you missed it, Apple will unveil two new phones at todays event. The iPhone 6 featuring 4.7 inch display and iPhone 6 plus with 5.5 inch display. It is widely believed that in addition to the event focusing on iPhone launch the company will also unveil the smart watch that the company has been working on for the past few years.

iPhone 6 media event

iWatch will mark the first new product category Apple is getting into since Steve Jobs. Many tech pundits had doubts about Apple’s future and often commented that the company lacks inspiration and innovation. Apple TV was touted to be the new product category that Apple will be foraying into, however it seems that it may have to wait for a bit longer.

iPhone 6 media press coverage

Apple is leaving no stone unturned to create a hype around the iPhone 6 and iWatch keynote event. During a media conference Apple’s SVP of  Internet Software and Services said, “later this year, we’ve got the best product pipeline that I’ve seen at Apple in my 25 years at Apple”. The day has finally arrived where we will finally get to see what Apple has in store for its customer and if it truly is the best product lineup Apple has brought to the market in 25 years.

Apple will kick off its WWDC keynote event at 10:00 AM Pacific Time at Moscone West convention center in San Francisco today. Live video streaming of the WWDC keynote event will be available on Apple’s website and Apple TV. Live streaming requires Safari 4 or later on OS X v10.6 or later; Safari on iOS 4.2 or later. Streaming via Apple TV requires second- or third-generation Apple TV with software 5.0.2 or later.

At this years keynote event we will see Apple introduce iOS 8 and OS X 10.10. iOS 8 is expected to focus on health and fitness with new Healthbook app, revamp iTunes Radio service with a standalone app and bring other improvements. Apple has shown interest in wearables and the CEO Tim Cook has referred to the wrist as an area of interest.

iOS 8 WWDC Live Keynote Event

With Healthbook app Apple could be preparing for the introduction of new smart watch hardware later this year. iPhone 5S shipped with a dedicated M7 coprocessor designed specifically to measure motion data from the accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass. This allows the device to know when you’re walking, running, or even driving. Many third party apps available in the App Store have used the available developer API’s to enhance their fitness apps. It seems obvious that Apple would like to build a dedicated service and enter into the fitness category to pave way for its smart watch device.

os x Yosemite

OS X 10.10 expected to be called OS X 10.10 Yosemite is rumoured to revamp the user interface and bring even more compatibility with iOS features. Apple made OS X Mavericks a free update for all users and the company is expected to follow the same free “pricing” model for this years update.

Apple recently announced that they acquired Beats Music and Beats Electronics for $3 Billion the announcement coming in just before WWDC gives some evidence of music related announcements during the live keynote event. Declining sales of iTunes music downloads and customers increasing adoption of streaming music service could result in Apple making iTunes Radio a standalone app and announce upcoming improvements to its streaming service.

In recent past Apple has focused on announcing only software updates during WWDC, however some rumours have pointed towards introduction of new Mac mini, iMac refresh and 8GB iPhone 5S. It is highly likely that Apple could update the hardware lineup with minor refreshes and not announce any new hardware during WWDC live keynote event.

Live video streaming of Apple’s WWDC keynote event will be available here and later a video podcast will available for download through iTunes. What are your expectations from this years event? Are you expecting any new hardware? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

A page from the user guide of the upcoming iPhone 5S has allegedly leaked online which suggests the new fingerprint scanner will be called ‘Touch ID sensor’. Apple’s iPhone 5S is about to be unveiled at a media event at 10:00 AM PT in Cupertino, Calif. and now this photo has been uncovered by Nowhereelse.fr.

The user guide photo shows the home screen of the iPhone 5S running iOS 7 and marking labels on the physical buttons of the device. Clearly the home button carries an additional label “Touch ID sensor”. The style of the home button with a silver ring is consistent with previous leak of iPhone 5S packaging photo.

Fingerprint / Touch ID Sensor could be the main highlight feature of the new iPhone 5S. It has been widely reported that Apple’s use of the fingerprint technology as a means to authenticate or unlock the device is very easy and seamless. The additional silver ring on the home button will act as a sensor to record the users fingerprint with accuracy.

The all-new iPhone 5S will also feature dual-led flashlight, new A7 processor and new camera software to support slow motion video recording. We’re just minutes away from the new iPhone being announced. The release date for the new iPhone 5S is expected to be around September 20th. Pre-orders for the new iPhone could go live as early as September 13th.

With the new Touch ID sensor iPhone 5S could be an attractive upgrade for users with previous gen iPhone. We will report on all the tech specs of the new iPhone as soon as the live keynote event is over and all details are available.

Apple’s WWDC 2013 keynote event will go live today at the Moscone West convention center in San Francisco. Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, will kick off the event with a keynote presentation at 10 AM Pacific Time.

At this years Worldwide Developers Conference Apple will unveil iOS 7 and the next major release for OS X. A live video stream of the keynote event will be available at Apple’s website and requires Safari 4 or later on Mac OS X v10.6 or later; Safari on iOS 4.2 or later. The company has added a new section for streaming via Apple TV and requires second- or third-generation Apple TV with software 5.0.2 or later to stream the event.

iOS 7 will be the first release that has been developed under the leadership of Jony Ive, SVP of Industrial Design, as Apple fired Scott Forstall allegedly over Apple maps fiasco and an internal divide over the skeuomorphic design elements. In addition to a redesign iOS 7 is expected to open new API’s for developers giving more control over features and could also introduce AirDrop for iOS to make sharing between iOS devices easier.

No details have been available about what’s new in OS X. Apple usually previews new version of OS X earlier in the year however, it is believed that the company had to pull engineers from OS X team to work on iOS 7.

Banners for iOS 7 and OS X suggest a clean and flat design for the upcoming update. Apple is expected to release the software updates later this fall. Apple’s online store is down at the time of writing which suggests that the rumors about possible MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models could turn out to be true.

While in 2011 Apple’s WWDC keynote event was all about software, this year the company is rumored to introduce new MacBook Pro models and for the first time bring ‘Retina Display’ to the MacBook product line. The new models have been speculated to have design similar to MacBook Air however, the next gen MacBook Pro models could see a significant price increase.

iOS devices contribute towards the largest chunk of Apple’s revenue share so it’s safe to assume that the focus of this years WWDC live keynote event will certainly be iOS 6.
