Roborock Qrevo Slim Review: Achieve Thorough Cleaning Even Under Low Furniture!

Robotic vacuum cleaners have evolved significantly and are now able to clean corners, along skirting boards, and reach difficult spots. Most models feature a LiDAR dome atop for navigation, offering a 360º perception of their surroundings. However, this dome can prevent the robots from cleaning under low-hanging furniture.

The Roborock Qrevo Slim overcomes this limitation with its advanced navigation system that eliminates the need for a top-mounted dome. In terms of features, it closely resembles the Roborock Qrevo Master, including hot water mopping, a dual roller brush, a robotic side brush, and an extendable mop pad. It also features a self-cleaning station, reducing maintenance needs. However, it differs from the Qrevo Curv, which sports a modern-styled station and the innovative DuoDivide brush, but still relies on a LiDAR dome for navigation.

The Qrevo Slim is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a comprehensive robotic vacuum cleaner that can navigate under low furniture. It is packed with advanced cleaning features, making it nearly as effective as Roborock’s flagship model, the S8 MaxV Ultra. In this detailed review, let’s explore how it compares to other models and whether its sleek design truly makes a difference.

A Slimmer Robot with a Nearly Identical Station

The Qrevo Slim’s design closely follows that of other models in the Qrevo lineup. The station remains upright with two water tanks positioned at the top, uncovered and easily accessible. The dustbin is hidden behind a removable front panel for easy access.

Roborock has made a slight innovation by offering the Qrevo Slim exclusively in black and decorating both the station and the robot with star patterns, adding a touch of modernity.

The mop plate is fully removable, making it easier to clean. Additionally, built-in scrapers remove most of the dirt during the mop washing process, which reduces the need for manual maintenance.

The robot itself is slightly different from other models in the range. Although it maintains a circular shape, it lacks a LiDAR dome on top, making it thinner at just 8.2 cm tall. For navigation, it uses both LiDAR and ToF sensors positioned at the front and back, generating a precise 3D map of its environment. It also includes an integrated camera for precise obstacle detection.

The build quality is generally good, but at this price point, one might expect more robust plastics and premium finishes. These remain reserved for the S8 MaxV Ultra, the brand’s flagship.

A Comprehensive and User-Friendly App

When setting up the Roborock Qrevo Slim, it first maps your home. Its sensors automatically identify and separate different rooms. You can edit the map to adjust rooms according to your preferences, create no-go zones, and even define floor types or place furniture on the map. The Qrevo Slim can save up to four different maps and automatically recognizes which one to use based on the environment.

The SmartPlan mode allows the robot to intelligently adjust its cleaning strategy. You can also customize settings by manually adjusting the suction power, water flow, and even the order of room cleaning. These settings can be applied globally or room-by-room, useful for cleaning high-traffic areas more thoroughly than bedrooms.

The app also allows customization of many advanced options. For example, you can set the robot to clean in the direction of the floor grain or to automatically redo areas it identifies as dirty. Depending on your preferences, it can lift its mops when encountering carpets, avoid them, or even clean them with water. You can also adjust the water temperature for washing the mops, their drying time, and the frequency of washing. It’s also possible to schedule recharging during off-peak hours.

The Roborock Qrevo Slim is equipped with an onboard camera, which serves for remote surveillance and also takes photos of obstacles it encounters along the way.

To interact with the robot, you can use Google Assistant and Alexa. Additionally, the built-in voice assistant “Hello Rocky” works quite well and understands most commands. However, it’s unfortunate that it’s not possible to ask it to clean two rooms with a single command.

Top-Notch Cleaning but a Somewhat Young Navigation System

With a suction power of 11,000 Pa, the Roborock Qrevo Slim slightly outperforms the Qrevo Master. This power is more than sufficient to remove dirt and dust on both hard floors and carpets. The dual DuoRoller brush enables the robot to effectively capture dirt and penetrate deeper into carpet fibers and grout lines. Plus, the FlexiArm robotic brush automatically extends to clean corners, along skirting boards, and around furniture legs.

For wet cleaning, the Roborock Qrevo Slim is equipped with two rotating and lifting pads, one of which is extendable for cleaning along skirtings and corners. The station washes the pads with hot water before, during, and after each cycle, keeping them clean and warm for better results.

The robot uses a small onboard water tank to continuously moisten the pads during cleaning. This ensures the pads do not dry out while reducing the frequency of returns to the station.

The cleaning results are excellent. The Qrevo Slim effectively clears floors of dust and dirt effortlessly. It is also capable of tackling stubborn stains, whether greasy or dry. For the most stubborn stains, the robot can automatically redo areas it identifies as dirty.

For optimal results, you can even add a bit of detergent to the clean water tank, which is ideal for removing the toughest stains. However, it’s regrettable that there is no integrated detergent reservoir in the station, like on the Dreame L40 Ultra, which would avoid having to add it manually with each refill.

The Qrevo Slim is relatively quiet, meaning you can use it even when you are at home. The station, however, can generate a bit of noise, especially during dustbin emptying or pad washing. Fortunately, these processes do not last long. You can also activate the “Do Not Disturb” mode in the app to disable some noisy features during specific hours.

The Roborock Qrevo Slim stands out for its innovative navigation system. Instead of a traditional LiDAR dome, it uses a 3D time-of-flight (ToF) system combined with LiDAR sensors. This allows it to be significantly thinner than other models, facilitating cleaning under low furniture.

Roborock even claims that this approach is more precise than a traditional LiDAR dome, especially in complex environments. In practice, the results are mixed. Overall, the Qrevo Slim navigates relatively well. However, it often takes an unpredictable route to move around. These issues can be easily improved with an update, but overall, other models from the brand perform much better.

Obstacle recognition is relatively reliable, particularly thanks to the integrated camera. It detects obstacles, even small ones like cables. The robot approaches them quite closely but still manages to avoid them effectively. It also takes photos of obstacles and displays them on the map, allowing you to see what has impeded its path.

In terms of battery life, the Qrevo Slim can clean about 150 m² on a single charge. Of course, this depends on the cleaning settings, but it is designed to cover large areas without needing to recharge. If the battery is low, it automatically returns to its base to recharge before resuming its task.

Easy Maintenance

The Roborock Qrevo Slim is relatively easy to maintain, especially its docking station. Its large water tanks and large dust bag mean you don’t have to empty or fill them frequently. Additionally, the built-in scrapers in the base automatically clean the mop plate. Roborock has also developed a new automatic station cleaning mode, which you can initiate from the app. Unlike other stations, this one does not require manual cleaning, as the process is fully automated. You can still clean it manually thanks to its detachable design, which allows you to easily wash it in the sink.

The rubber brushes minimize tangles of hair and pet fur. However, the side brush is particularly prone to tangles. Therefore, you will need to clean it frequently to prevent blockages.

As for the pads, they require little maintenance. The station washes them with hot water and dries them with warm air, which limits the growth of bacteria and bad odors. However, unlike the S8 MaxV Ultra, the Qrevo range does not have a dedicated brush to clean the mop pads. They are therefore not cleaned deeply, and regular machine washing is recommended.
