Huawei Watch Fit 4A Compact and Lightweight Watch
As was already the case for the Huawei Watch Fit 3, the new Huawei Watch Fit 4 heavily draws design inspiration from the Apple Watch. In fact, this model features a look that is a hybrid between the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro—with a slight protrusion between the button and the crown—and the Huawei Watch Fit 3—for the slightly curved glass of the display and the rounded edges of the casing.
In terms of size, this is a particularly compact watch, measuring 43.0 x 38.0 x 9.5 mm and weighing, without the strap, just 27 grams. The watch is crafted from an aluminum alloy, a material that, while not as robust as titanium or steel, has the advantage of being lighter.
In terms of durability, the watch is certified 5 ATM and can therefore be used underwater without problems, provided you don’t go diving. Naturally, this also applies to wearing it in the rain or in the shower. However, the watch only comes with standard glass to protect the display, so neither sapphire glass nor Gorilla Glass is present. Logically, the watch will be more susceptible to scratches than a higher-end model.
Regarding the case itself, we have a model with a square screen equipped with two buttons on the side: an oblong button and a rotating crown that also acts as a button. There are also several perforations on either side of the case for the speaker, microphone, and barometric altimeter.
Finally, for the strap, Huawei uses a proprietary attachment system, with integrated buttons on the case. By default, depending on the model chosen, the Chinese brand provides a strap in either gray nylon or white, purple, or black fluoroelastomer. However, it will be possible to change the strap… provided you select a model compatible with the Watch Fit range.
Huawei Watch Fit 4A Quality Display
For the display, the Huawei Watch Fit 4 features a 1.82-inch diagonal Amoled panel, with a resolution of 480 x 408 pixels and a pixel density of 347 pixels per inch. This panel is very similar to that of the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro, which was already very successful, but with four fewer pixel rows in width.
The main difference with the higher-end model’s screen lies in the brightness of the panel. While the “Pro” model can reach up to 3000 cd/m², the Huawei Watch Fit 4 is limited to 2000 cd/m². However, in practice, this is more than enough to view the watch’s data in most situations, including in bright sunlight. To give you an idea, this is the same peak brightness as on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 or the Apple Watch Series 10.
The Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro also benefits from an ambient light sensor to automatically adjust the screen brightness to your environment, with a fairly short delay.
Lastly, the watch obviously features an always-on display mode to keep certain data—such as the time—visible on the screen, even if you’re not actively looking at it. Importantly, a “sleep” mode allows you to schedule the deactivation of this always-on display during the night, provided you remember to set it up in advance.
Finally, the Huawei Watch Fit 4 is equipped with 12 pre-installed virtual watch faces, but it is possible to download many more from the Huawei Health app on your smartphone. The watch faces also indicate their low, medium, or high power consumption. Some of them are also customizable, both in terms of color shades and complications.
Huawei Watch Fit 4A Comprehensive Interface, but Few Compatible Apps
The Huawei Watch Fit 4 works well with both Android smartphones and iPhones, as long as you first download the Huawei Health app.

On this point, the watch offers the same functions and navigation as the Huawei Watch Fit 4. Thus, we encourage you to refer to the full review of the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro for details.
Overall, we are dealing here with an intuitive interface, with practical controls, numerous sports and health-related apps, the ability to make calls, respond to notifications, or check widgets.
It should be noted, however, that Huawei watches are somewhat lacking in third-party apps. Do not expect to find a catalog as extensive as those on Wear OS or watchOS.
Huawei Watch Fit 4Highly Effective Sports Tracking
For health and sports tracking, the Huawei Watch Fit 4 carries over the same sensor arsenal as the previous Huawei Watch Fit 3.
You’ll find an accelerometer and gyroscope for movement, a magnetometer for the compass, an optical heart rate sensor, and a barometric altimeter.
The GPS Accuracy of the Huawei Watch Fit 4
For geolocation tracking, Huawei has integrated a dual-frequency multi-GNSS chip into its watch, compatible with GPS, Glonass, Galileo, Beidou, and QZSS.
To assess the effectiveness of this tracking, I ran several times with the Huawei Watch Fit 4 on my wrist and compared the measurements with a reference sports watch, the Garmin Fenix 8. I then compared the distances and tracks of the two watches in various environments: in the city, in an open park, and on a track.
| Runs | Reference | Huawei Watch Fit 4 | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Run 1 (track) | 10,799 km | 10,740 km | -0.50 % |
| Run 2 (city) | 11,012 km | 11,010 km | -0.02 % |
| Run 3 (park) | 10,211 km | 10,200 km | -0.11 % |
| Run 4 (park) | 11,017 km | 11,090 km | +0.66 % |
| Total | 43,039 km | 43,040 km | +0.002 % |
Overall, the Huawei Watch Fit 4 offers measurements similar to those of the high-end Garmin watch. In practice, it was common for both watches to beep to mark the passing of a kilometer within just one or two seconds of each other.
