“A lot can happen in 20 years. I want to make sure the world progresses during that time,” explained the Microsoft co-founder in an open letter about the Gates Foundation, which fights poverty and disease.
Since its creation in the year 2000, the foundation has allocated $53.8 billion to various projects, primarily focused on health, education, and development.
Bill Gates paid tribute to Warren Buffett, who “remains the ultimate model of generosity”.

In early February, Gates told the BBC he had already donated more than $100 billion to charities, including $60 billion to his own foundation.
According to Forbes magazine, the remainder of his fortune amounts to about $113 billion.
The charity was created by Bill Gates, his ex-partner Melinda French Gates, and businessman Warren Buffett, head of the conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway.

Formerly known as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, it was renamed the Gates Foundation in 2024, when Melinda ceased to be part of it, three years after the couple’s divorce.
The foundation helps fund the World Health Organization (WHO), the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI), and the Vaccine Alliance (Gavi).
By the end of 2024, the net assets of the Gates Foundation amounted to $71.3 billion. For 2025, the budget is set at $8.7 billion.
In line with the work carried out during its first quarter-century, Bill Gates set three priorities for its last twenty years.
1.- It will focus on combating child mortality.
2.- Infectious diseases – mainly polio, dracunculiasis, measles, and malaria.
3.- Educational projects.
