Attaque de xAI : Apple demande le classement de l'affaire

Apple Faces Antitrust Accusations from xAI

Apple is currently embroiled in a legal dispute with xAI, which has accused the tech giant of engaging in anti-competitive practices. According to a Bloomberg report, Apple’s legal team has approached the court with a request to dismiss the case. Apple’s defense argues that xAI’s allegations are based on “speculations stacked upon speculations.” xAI, the creator of the Grok generative artificial intelligence chatbot, has charged both Apple and OpenAI with locking down market opportunities to sustain their monopolies and block other innovators like X and xAI from competing. This includes making ChatGPT exclusively available through Apple Intelligence and allegedly manipulating App Store rankings to disadvantage OpenAI’s competitors.

Apple’s Partnership with OpenAI

In their legal filings, Apple’s lawyers contend that it is not feasible for the company to partner with every generative AI chatbot irrespective of their quality, privacy standards, security measures, technical feasibility, development stage, or commercial terms, as xAI suggests. They further note that antitrust laws do not mandate such an approach. Apple points out that OpenAI was selected as an initial partner for Apple Intelligence. However, they also highlight that it is well recognized that Apple plans to collaborate with other AI chatbots in the future. During the launch of Apple Intelligence in June 2024, Apple’s software development head, Craig Federighi, announced intentions to integrate additional models, like Google’s Gemini, potentially by the end of the year.
