Apple’s Cameo Request for Tim Cook in Seth Rogen’s Series The Studio
According to a report from Business Insider, Apple proposed that Seth Rogen include a cameo appearance by Tim Cook in his series The Studio. This hilariously satirical show on Apple TV+ chronicles the experiences of Matt Remick (played by Seth Rogen), the new head of a Hollywood studio, which features a host of high-profile guest stars, including Martin Scorsese, Charlize Theron, and Steve Buscemi in just the first episode alone. In the eighth episode, where Matt Remick meets the CEO of a streaming service, the ideal opportunity for a surprise cameo arose. However, Seth Rogen chose Ted Sarandos, the CEO of Netflix, for the role.
Seth Rogen humorously remarked, “They asked if we could use Tim Cook instead, and we said no”. This week, Apple TV announced the renewal of the series for a second season. Co-creators Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg expressed their enthusiasm: “We look forward to bringing the experiences of the first season into the second and hope to continue this cycle for ten more seasons. We are also eager to keep our friends and industry colleagues in suspense about when their personal stories might appear on Apple TV+.” It remains unclear whether Apple considered negotiating potential cameos before finalizing the contract for the new season.
