Apple has announced the 2025 App Store Awards, its yearly selection that highlights the most impactful apps and games of the year. This event recognizes creations that stand out for “their innovation, user experience, and exceptional design”, according to Apple’s press release. • Essayist, chosen as Mac App of the Year: this tool eases the writing and formatting of academic documents. The app automates styles, citations, and structure, allowing students and researchers to focus on content rather than formatting.
• Focus Friend, awarded in the Cultural Impact category: this app combats digital distractions by turning focus sessions into a motivating game: the user sets a timer and watches their virtual creature advance as long as they remain focused.
